Giant low surface brightness galaxies in TNG100
ABSTRACT Giant low surface brightness (GLSB) galaxies, such as Malin 1 and UGC 1382, contain the largest stellar discs known. GLSB galaxies also often contain large masses of neutral hydrogen (H i). However, these extreme galaxies’ origin and properties remain poorly understood.

Substituent‐Based Modulation of Self‐Assembly and Immunogenicity of Amphipathic Peptides
This study systematically investigates how positional and subtle changes, such as substituents on the phenyl ring attached to short amphipathic peptides, influence their self‐assembly, fibril morphology, and immunogenic responses. ABSTRACT Self‐assembled peptide‐based biomaterials provide versatile platforms for biomedical uses, featuring customizable ...

The Properties of an Edge-On Low Surface Brightness Galaxies Sample
We analyzed the properties of a sample of edge-on low-surface brightness galaxies, which are referred to as Cao23 ELSBGs. Cao23 ELSBGs exhibit a wide range of luminosities (−22 < Mr < −13) with a mean scale length of 3.19 ± 1.48 kpc.

The 3K‐AP system forms infinite supramolecular fibrils that undergo controlled degradation into shorter fragments upon enzymatic hydrolysis. Multitechnique imaging reveals a stepwise bacteriolytic mechanism involving bacterial entrapment, disassembly into lethal constructs, and associated extracellular vesicle release, highlighting the dynamic ...

Bose-Einstein Condensate Dark Matter Halos Confronted with Galactic Rotation Curves
We present a comparative confrontation of both the Bose-Einstein Condensate (BEC) and the Navarro-Frenk-White (NFW) dark halo models with galactic rotation curves.

The THESEUS Space Mission and the Infrared Telescope Calibration Unit
ABSTRACT The Transient High‐Energy Sky and Early Universe Surveyor (THESEUS) is an ESA M7 mission concept currently in Phase A, designed to exploit gamma‐ray bursts to probe the early Universe while advancing multi‐messenger and time‐domain astrophysics. To achieve its ambitious goals, THESEUS will combine wide‐band x‐ray and gamma‐ray monitors with an

MORPHOFIT: An automated galaxy structural parameters fitting package
In today’s modern wide-field galaxy surveys, there is the necessity for parametric surface brightness decomposition codes characterised by accuracy, small degree of user intervention, and high degree of parallelisation.

H i observations of giant low surface brightness galaxies [PDF]
We have used the Nancay Radio Telescope to obtain new global HI data for 16 giant low surface brightness (LSB) galaxies. Our targets have optical luminosities and disk scale lengths at the high end for spiral galaxies (L_B~10^10 Lsun and h_r>~6 kpc for H_0=75 km/s/Mpc), but they have diffuse stellar disks, with mean disk surface brightnesses ~1 ...

Repeating Nuclear Transients From Repeating Partial Tidal Disruption Events
ABSTRACT Extragalactic nuclear transients that exhibit repeating outbursts can be modeled as the repeated dynamical interaction between bound stars and supermassive black holes (SMBHs). A subset of these transients, with recurrence timescales of months‐to‐years, have been explained as accretion flares from the repeated tidal stripping of a star by an ...
