Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

The order of magnetic phase transitions in disordered double perovskite oxides Sm2FeCoO6 and Dy2FeCoO6

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2018
We present the results on the order of phase transition around the spin re-orientation region using isothermal magnetization data performed on the sol-gel synthesized disordered double perovskite oxides Sm2FeCoO6 and Dy2FeCoO6 by Arrott plot method.

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Thermoactivated heat transfer mechanism in molecular crystals: Thermal conductivity of benzophenone single crystals

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2019
Thermal conductivities of two benzophenone single crystals have been measured at temperatures from 4.7 to 270 K. The experimental data for both are consistent for temperatures above 15 K.

Passive scalar intermittency in low temperature helium flows

open access: yes, 2000
We report new measurements of turbulent mixing of temperature fluctuations in a low temperature helium gas experiment, spanning a range of microscale Reynolds number, $R_{\lambda}$, from 100 to 650.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Low-temperature quantum fluctuations in overdamped ratchets

open access: yes, 2010
At low temperatures and strong friction the time evolution of the density distribution in position follows a quantum Smoluchowski equation. Recently, also higher-order contributions of quantum fluctuations to drift and diffusion coefficients have been ...

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.
