Enhanced low-temperature impact toughness of nanostructured Ti
Applied Physics Letters, 2006Impact toughness is one of the major mechanical properties for structural materials. It is generally observed that in coarse-grained materials the impact toughness decreases with decreasing testing temperature. Here, we report that the impact toughness of nanostructured Ti processed by severe plastic deformation is enhanced at low temperatures of −70°C

Structural Turbulence of Pearlitic Steel 09G2S at Low-Temperature Impact Toughness
Physical Mesomechanics, 2020The study explores the effect of helical rolling on the low-temperature impact toughness of pearlitic steel 09G2S. Helical rolling in two modes was performed at T = 850°C in six passes through rolls of varied diameters with air cooling (mode I) and water quenching (mode II).

Low temperature impact toughness of high strength structural steel
Thin-Walled Structures, 2018Abstract Impact toughness properties of four kinds of high strength steel (HSS) were investigated with the nominal yield strength 460, 690, 800 and 960 MPa, respectively. The specialty of impact toughness among base metal, heat affected zone (HAZ) and weld metal were also compared and discussed.

Impact toughness of austenitic steels at low temperatures
Metal Science and Heat Treatment, 19671. If austenite undergoes no change in the impact test than the impact toughness decreases monotonically with decreasing temperatures. 2. The martensite forming during the test increases the work of formation of the crack but reduces the work of its propagation. The curves of the impact toughness have peaks.

The impact toughness and mechanism of low-carbon steel fracture at low temperatures
Industrial laboratory. Diagnostics of materials, 2019The goal of the work is to study the effect of severe plastic deformation (SPD) on the impact toughness and fracture mechanism of St3sp low-carbon structural steel within a test temperature range of 293 – 213 K. The issues of deformation processing of steel St3sp billets using SPD method in conditions of the equal-channel angular pressing scheme (ECAP)
