Low temperature impact toughness of high strength structural steel

Thin-Walled Structures, 2018
Abstract Impact toughness properties of four kinds of high strength steel (HSS) were investigated with the nominal yield strength 460, 690, 800 and 960 MPa, respectively. The specialty of impact toughness among base metal, heat affected zone (HAZ) and weld metal were also compared and discussed.

Effects of nickel on low-temperature impact toughness and corrosion resistance of high-ductility ductile iron

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2012
High-ductility ductile iron was alloyed with 0–1.8 wt% Ni in this paper. The low-temperature impact toughness test and corrosion test of simulated seawater static whole-soaking were conducted to re ...

Effect of martensite morphology and volume fraction on the low-temperature impact toughness of dual-phase steels

Materials Science and Engineering: A, 2022
Abstract The influence of martensite morphology and volume fraction on low-temperature impact toughness of dual-phase (DP) steels was investigated by impact tests, nanoindentation tests, atom probe tomography (APT) and microstructural examination.

Microstructures and impact toughness of low-alloy high-carbon steel austempered at low temperature

Scripta Materialia, 2009
We studied the microstructure and impact toughness of low-alloy high-carbon steel austempered at low temperature. Ultrafine carbide-free bainitic microstructure was obtained, which is composed of lath-like bainitic ferrite and retained austenite. The impact absorbed energy of austempered samples is much greater than that of the low-temperature tempered

Chromium nitrides effects on low temperature impact toughness and durability of duplex stainless steels forgings.

open access: yes, 2017
The chromium nitrides effects on duplex stainless steels low temperature impact toughness and durability were investigated. A duplex rolled ring was cut as different blocks, and different Cr2N amounts were obtained by trial heat treatments, with the solution annealing furnace temperature set at low and high levels, 1040 and 1140 °C respectively, and ...

Enhanced low-temperature impact toughness of nanostructured Ti

Applied Physics Letters, 2006
Impact toughness is one of the major mechanical properties for structural materials. It is generally observed that in coarse-grained materials the impact toughness decreases with decreasing testing temperature. Here, we report that the impact toughness of nanostructured Ti processed by severe plastic deformation is enhanced at low temperatures of −70°C
