Impact toughness of Al-Li system alloys at low temperatures.

open access: yesJournal of Japan Institute of Light Metals, 1987
Al-2.7%Li-1.2%Cu-0.8%Mg-0.1%Zr wrought alloys are heat treated to improve their impact toughness at lower temperatures, although a number of laminated cracks form in the vertical direction to the fracture surface. Low melting point elements, K and Na, are found on the fractured surface by Auger spectroscopy.

Analysis of temperature effects near mode I cracks in glassy polymers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
A previous isothermal study has shown that the toughness of glassy polymers is governed by the competition between shear yielding and crazing. The present work aims at investigating loading rates for which thermal effects need to be accounted for.

Study on the effect of micro-shrinkage porosity on the ultra-low temperature toughness of ferritic ductile iron

open access: yesHigh Temperature Materials and Processes, 2022
In this study, the ductile iron ingots are cast using a metal mold, and the riser neck diameter is changed to control the micro-shrinkage porosity, which can affect the ultra-low temperature toughness of ferritic ductile iron.
