Fracture toughness of polymer-modified asphalt concrete at low temperatures
Canadian Journal of Civil Engineering, 2003The fracture toughness of asphalt concrete increases at low temperature and then decreases at temperatures below a certain level. Some polymers are known to have the property of improving the temperature susceptibility of asphalt binder at low temperatures.

Variation of fracture toughness of asphalt concrete under low temperatures
Construction and Building Materials, 1997Abstract This study presents the results of experimental evaluation on fracture toughness of asphalt concrete at various low temperatures (from −5°C to −30°C in 5°C steps). An asphalt cement, penetration grade of 85/100 and two aggregates, a granite and a limestone, were used to prepare asphalt concrete beam specimens which were conditioned using two

Low-temperature fracture toughness of a heat-treated mild steel
Journal of Materials Engineering and Performance, 1995Specimens from a 0.14 % C mild steel were austenitized at 1000 °C for 1 h and thereafter furnace-cooled or isothermally transformed at 700 °C for 0.5,2, and 8 h. The microconstituents present in the as-received material were ferrite and pearlite and their amounts did not substantially change even after heat treatment.

Effect of the low‐temperature relaxation on toughness of cured epoxy resins
Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 1994AbstractThe relation between the magnitude of low‐temperature relaxation and toughness was investigated for epoxy resins cured with some position isomers of naphthalenediols. A well‐defined relaxation was observed near room temperature for a system cured with 2,6‐dihydroxynaphthalene. The relaxation was denoted here as the β′‐relaxation.

Toughness Tests of Tool Stees for Work at Low Temperature
2018On scrapyard, outside of building, scrap shear with parallel knifes were used to cut large pieces of scrap metal on requested size to fill electric arc furnace. Because of several blades damages and failures, Fig 1, two different steels for blades have been analyzed to increase service life of blades and knifes at low temperature conditions.
