Magnetic refrigeration for nanoelectronics on a cryogen-free platform [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Nanostructured samples serve as a playground of solid state physics due to their vast diversity of applications. In addition to various fabrication recipes and measurement methods, the temperature at which these experiments are performed plays a crucial ...

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Towards cooling nanoelectronic devices to microkelvin temperatures : design, construction and test of a novel type of refrigerator [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This work presents an important step towards the realisation of sub-millikelvin temperatures in nanoelectronic devices. The ability to reach low millikelvin or even microkelvin temperatures in nanoelectronic devices would open up the chance to ...

ABL kinase‐dependent phosphorylation of SH proteins promotes their direct interaction with CRK family SH2 domains

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
CT10 regulator of kinase (CRK) and CRK‐Like (CRKL) are signaling adaptors driving cell adhesion, motility, differentiation, and proliferation. SH2‐domain containing (SH) proteins are enriched in YXXP motifs which when phosphorylated create preferred binding sites for CRK family SH2 domains.

Mixed‐class J‐domain protein scaffolds promote expanded aggregate handling and multivalent Hsp70 engagement during functional disaggregase assembly

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein aggregates threaten proteostasis and cell health. In human cells, Hsp70–J‐domain protein‐based disaggregases remove aggregates, but how they assemble remains unclear. Our biochemical findings show that DNAJA2‐ and DNAJB1‐containing disaggregase scaffolds enhance luciferase aggregate targeting, and that Hsp70 recruitment by both J‐domain ...

STUDIES ON THE BEHAVIOR OF THE SINTERED MATERIAL BASED ON IRON POWDER TO MECHANICAL COMPRESSION [PDF]

open access: yesFiabilitate şi Durabilitate, 2014
Compression test at low temperature is 130-150 K range and the conditions set out in the technical execution of the tests carried out at low temperatures. As observed with MS do not behave traction to mechanical stress as compact material.

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...
