Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

iTrace – A Ray Tracing Aberrometer
Modern ophthalmology focusses on visual quality and not just visual acuity. The quality of vision is affected by both lower and higher order aberrations.

Optical Aberrations and Wavefront
The deviation of light to create normal retinal image in the optical system is called aberration. Aberrations are divided two subgroup: low-order aberrations (defocus: spherical and cylindrical refractive errors) and high-order aberrations (coma ...

Contrast sensitivity benefit of adaptive optics correction of ocular aberrations. [PDF]
While correcting the aberrations of the eye produces large increases in retinal image contrast, the corresponding improvement factors in the contrast sensitivity function have been little explored and results are controversial.

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Higher order aberrations in amblyopic children and their role in refractory amblyopia
Objective: Some studies have hypothesized that an unfavourable higher order aberrometric profile could act as an amblyogenic mechanism and may be responsible for some amblyopic cases that are refractory to conventional treatment or cases of “idiopathic ...

Ocular higher-order aberrations, age and refraction [PDF]
Higher-order aberration data of 339 right eyes from an optometric practice were measured using the Carl Zeiss i.Profiler. We analysed effects of age and refraction on higher-order aberrations.
