Lower Cambrian archaeocyathan bioconstructions

open access: yesComptes Rendus Palevol, 2007
Abstract Archaeocyatha are now confidently considered as a Class within the phylum Porifera. Regulares and Irregulares are no longer a systematic division, but have only ecological significance. Topographic relief, biogenic framework and a wave-resistant capability are in favour of the reefal nature of archaeocyathan bioconstructions.

A well‐resolved phylogeny of Cuscuta subgenus Monogynella based on data drawn from all three plant genomes

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
Abstract Premise Cuscuta (dodders) consists of ~200 species circumscribed into four subgenera (Monogynella, Cuscuta, Pachystigma, and Grammica) and is the only parasitic genus in Convolvulaceae (the morning‐glory family). This group shows a significant diversity in plastid functionality and represents a rare mixotrophic system among parasitic plants ...

The Cambrian of the Iberian Peninsula: An overview

open access: yesGeologica Acta, 2003
This work is a brief overview of the Cambrian in the Iberian Peninsula, along with an updated review of lithostratigraphic and biostratigraphic data. A Cambrian correlation chart between the different stratigraphical units that have been established in ...

Transitioning to nonpunitive school policies for addressing student substance use: Qualitative interviews with key school administrators

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Community Psychology, EarlyView.
Abstract Recent policy change in Massachusetts encourages schools to limit their use of exclusionary discipline to “extraordinary circumstances,” but little work has explored the opportunities and challenges of transitioning to nonpunitive practices after student substance use infractions in schools.

Characteristics, origin and distribution of dolomite reservoirs in Lower-Middle Cambrian, Tarim Basin, NW China

open access: yesPetroleum Exploration and Development, 2016
Based on cores, thin sections and drilling data of 18 wells and two outcrop profiles of the Lower-Middle Cambrian in the Tarim Basin, geochemical analysis of multi-parameters in micro-area (the micro-carbonate fabric which is formed under the same ...

Evidence for gill slits and a pharynx in Cambrian vetulicolians: implications for the early evolution of deuterostomes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Background Vetulicolians are a group of Cambrian metazoans whose distinctive bodyplan continues to present a major phylogenetic challenge. Thus, we see vetulicolians assigned to groups as disparate as deuterostomes and ecdysozoans.

Where Imprisonment, Housing Instability and Wellbeing Intersect: Evidence From Over Two Decades of Data

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Social Issues, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study draws on life event data on housed former prisoners from the nationwide indefinite life panel, Household, Income and Labour Dynamics in Australia (HILDA) survey, spanning more than two decades. This study investigates, using panel data methods, if social connectedness mediates the association between incarceration and unstable ...

Molecular evidence that phoronids are a subtaxon of brachiopods (Brachiopoda: Phoronata) and that genetic divergence of metazoan phyla began long before the early Cambrian [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Concatenated SSU (18S) and partial LSU (28S) sequences (~2 kb) from 12 ingroup taxa, comprising 2 phoronids, 2 members of each of the craniid, discinid, and lingulid inarticulate brachiopod lineages, and 4 rhynchonellate, articulate brachiopods (2 ...

Developmental differences in cortical bone structure in chimpanzee and human femora reflect early locomotor independence in humans

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract The cortical bone structure of long bone diaphyses changes throughout growth via skeletal modeling and has important implications for bone strength and structural integrity. Ontogenetic trends in diaphyseal structure have been identified in both chimpanzees and humans but it is not yet clear how these trends compare given notable differences ...

Features and origin of natural gas in the Sinian–Cambrian of central Sichuan paleo-uplift, Sichuan Basin, SW China

open access: yesPetroleum Exploration and Development, 2015
Based on the new drilling data and field outcrop data of the Gaoshiti–Moxi area, the geochemical characteristics of the Sinian-Cambrian natural gas are studied and analyzed, including gas composition, isotope, light hydrocarbon, kerogen carbon isotope ...
