Spectroscopic Analysis of Hydration Structures in PEG‐ and PMPC‐Containing Hydrogels by Pressure‐Controlled ATR‐IR Combined With Multivariate Curve Resolution

open access: yesSurface and Interface Analysis, Volume 58, Issue 12, Page 1071-1080, December 2026.
ABSTRACT Hydration structures govern the properties and functions of hydrogels, yet selectively measuring hydration water in the presence of abundant bulk water remains analytically challenging. Here we applied pressure‐controlled attenuated total reflection infrared spectroscopy (ATR‐IR) combined with multivariate curve resolution (MCR) analysis, a ...

General Correlation for the Prediction of Theta (Lower Critical Solution Temperature) in Polymer Solutions

open access: yes, 2016
In this work, a correlation for the estimation of the θ temperature (lower critical solution temperature, LCST) in polymer solutions is proposed in which both polymer and solvent molecules are characterized by the molecular connectivity index. A database

Infrared Laser Heating Reveals a Reversible Phase Transition of Phosphofructokinase 1 in Mammalian Cells

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 32, Issue 40, 27 October 2026.
In this study, we present a novel method to investigate the phase behavior of biomolecular condensates in living cells. The method complements FRAP experiments, expanding the existing toolbox for characterization of condensates within living cells. ABSTRACT Metabolic enzymes can operate in concerted networks, so‐called metabolons.

Lower Critical Solution Temperature (LCST) Phase Behavior of Poly(ethylene oxide) in Ionic Liquids

open access: yes, 2015
We describe the LCST-type phase behavior of poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) (M = 5000 and 20000) dissolved in 1,3-dialkylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate ionic liquids. The phase transition temperatures were identified using cloud point measurements.
