Weak Lower Semicontinuity of Integral Functionals and Applications [PDF]
Minimization is a reoccurring theme in many mathematical disciplines ranging from pure to applied ones. Of particular importance is the minimization of integral functionals that is studied within the calculus of variations. Proofs of the existence of minimizers usually rely on a fine property of the involved functional called weak lower semicontinuity.

On Cahn–Hilliard Type Viscoelastoplastic Two‐Phase Flows
ABSTRACT This contribution deals with a model for viscoelastoplastic two‐phase flows of Cahn–Hilliard type. We present the modeling framework for the flow, the notion of a generalized solution, namely the so‐called dissipative solution, and the key ideas of the existence proof.

Lower Semicontinuity in L1 of a Class of Functionals Defined on BV with Carathéodory Integrands
We prove lower semicontinuity in L1Ω for a class of functionals G:BVΩ⟶ℝ of the form Gu=∫Ωgx,∇udx+∫ΩψxdDsu where g:Ω×ℝN⟶ℝ, Ω⊂ℝN is open and bounded, g·,p∈L1Ω for each p, satisfies the linear growth condition limp⟶∞gx,p/p=ψx∈CΩ∩L∞Ω, and is convex in p ...

In this paper, we introduce a Mann-Krasnoselskii algorithm of inertial form for approximating a common solution of Spit Variational Inclusion Problem (SVIP) and Equilibrium Problem (EP) with paramonotone bifunction in real Hilbert spaces.

Analysis of a Viscoplastic Burgers Equation
ABSTRACT We study a Burgers equation featuring an additional stress term that is governed by a positively 1$\hskip.001pt 1$‐homogeneous potential. This problem is motivated by the so‐called Hibler's sea ice model, which treats sea ice as a non‐Newtonian fluid, where the stress tensor includes such a term in order to account for the plastic response of ...

Weak lower semicontinuity of variational functionals with variable growth
In this paper, we establish the weak lower semicontinuity of variational functionals with variable growth in variable exponent Sobolev spaces. The weak lower semicontinuity is interesting by itself and can be applied to obtain the existence of an ...

On the Existence Theorems of Equilibrium and Quasi-Equilibrium Problems in Different Spaces
In this article, the solvability of the equilibrium problem (EP), Minty equilibrium problem (MEP), and quasi-equilibrium problem (QEP) by using the notions of cyclically monotone and cyclically antimonotone in the setting of topological vector spaces and

Semicontinuity of the Solution Mapping to a Parametric Generalized Weak Ky Fan Inequality
Under new assumptions, which do not contain any information about the solution set, the upper and lower semicontinuity of the solution mapping to a class of parametric generalized weak Ky Fan inequality are established by using a nonlinear scalarization ...

A strong quantitative form of the fractional isoperimetric inequality
Abstract We show a strong version of the fractional quantitative isoperimetric inequality, in which the isoperimetric deficit controls not only the Fraenkel asymmetry but also a sort of oscillation of the boundary. This generalizes the local result by Fusco and Julin in [22].
