AARS1‐Mediated H3K27 Lactylation Rewires Glycolysis to Sustain Aggressive and Recurrent Bladder Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
AARS1 drives PI3K–AKT–mTOR‐dependent glycolysis in bladder cancer, promoting lactate accumulation, increased lactylation, H3K27la enrichment at the HK2 promoter, and HK2 transcription. HK2 reinforces glycolysis, sustaining a metabolic–epigenetic program associated with tumor progression, recurrence, and metastasis.

TRP Channels as Lower Urinary Tract Sensory Targets

open access: yesMedical Science, 2019
Several members of the transient receptor potential (TRP) superfamily, including TRPV1, TRPV2, TRPV4, TRM4, TRPM8 and TRPA1, are expressed in the lower urinary tract (LUT), not only in neuronal fibers innervating the bladder and urethra, but also in the ...

Urinary ATP and visualization of intracellular bacteria: a superior diagnostic marker for recurrent UTI in renal transplant recipients? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Renal transplant recipients (RTR) are highly susceptible to urinary tract infections (UTIs) with over 50% of patients having at least one UTI within the first year.

Tumor Exposomics: A New Paradigm for Individualized Continuous Exposure Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Tumor exposomics integrates continuous monitoring of environmental exposures, endogenous biological responses, and behavioral factors within a unified temporal framework. By combining multimodal sensing technologies with AI‐enabled causal modeling, this emerging paradigm reconstructs exposure‐damage trajectories and supports individualized dynamic risk

The prevalence of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) in Brazil: Results from the epidemiology of LUTS (Brazil LUTS) study

open access: yesNeurourology and Urodynamics, 2018
We performed the first large population‐based study to evaluate lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) in Brazil. The study objective was to assess the prevalence and bother of LUTS in the population aged ≥40 years in five major cities of Brazil.

Comparison of Minimally Invasive Colectomy Between Intra‐ Versus Extra‐Corporeal Anastomosis Technique (COMMIT Study): Short‐Term Analysis

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
This multicenter propensity score‐matched study of 3213 patients compared intracorporeal (IA) and extracorporeal (EA) anastomosis during minimally invasive colectomy. IA was associated with a significantly lower incidence of intraoperative blood loss ≥ 200 mL (2.5% vs.

Rare Variants in BNC2 Are Implicated in Autosomal-Dominant Congenital Lower Urinary-Tract Obstruction

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Human Genetics, 2019
Congenital lower urinary-tract obstruction (LUTO) is caused by anatomical blockage of the bladder outflow tract or by functional impairment of urinary voiding. About three out of 10,000 pregnancies are affected.

Impact of Postoperative Infectious Complications on Long‐Term Survival After Curative Resection for Colorectal Cancer: A Multicenter Study in the Minimally Invasive Era

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
Postoperative infectious complications (PICs) have been associated with poor long‐term outcomes after colorectal cancer surgery, but evidence in the modern minimally invasive era remains limited. In this multicenter cohort of 5377 patients undergoing curative resection, PICs were independently associated with worse overall survival and relapse‐free ...

Essential Updates in the Surgical Management of Inflammatory Bowel Disease: Current Topics From 2024 to Mid‐2026

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Inflammatory bowel disease management has undergone a major transformation with the introduction of treat‐to‐target strategies and highly effective biologic and small‐molecule therapies. Although these advances have reduced the overall requirement for surgery, operative intervention remains essential for selected patients with ulcerative ...
