The integration of the British Pharmacological Society's prescription safety assessment into the WHO 6‐step model of rational pharmacotherapy in a Turkish medical school

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Aims At Koç University School of Medicine, a one‐week rational pharmacotherapy (RPHM) programme, modelled after WHO 6‐step, has been introduced in the fourth‐year curriculum to improve prescription skills. For efficient problem‐based learning (PBL) sessions on a prespecified topic, students need to brush up on basic pharmacology knowledge, so we ...

The shape of the urine stream — from biophysics to diagnostics

open access: yes, 2012
We develop a new computational model of capillary-waves in free-jet flows, and apply this to the problem of urological diagnosis in this first ever study of the biophysics behind the characteristic shape of the urine stream as it exits the urethral ...

Pharmacokinetics, safety, tolerability and fluorescence imaging of nizaracianine triflutate administered in three divided doses to healthy volunteers

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Aim Fluorescence‐guided surgery enhances intraoperative visualization of anatomical structures. Nizaracianine is a near‐infrared fluorescent agent that is exclusively renally cleared in animal models. It enables real‐time ureteral imaging and identification, potentially reduces risk of injury and facilitates assessment before surgical closure.

Active surveillance of drug safety in healthcare data: Sequential monitoring of bacterial and serious urinary tract infection risk in sodium‐glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitor users

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Introduction Active surveillance of adverse events using healthcare data is emerging as complementary to the monitoring of spontaneous reports and stand‐alone pharmacoepidemiologic studies. The risk of urinary tract infections (UTIs) was listed as a special warning for sodium‐glucose cotransporter‐2 inhibitors (SGLT2is) when marketed in Europe

Videourodynamics Identifies the Causes of Young Men with Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms and Low Uroflow

open access: yes, 2009
Objectives: Using videourodynamics (VUDS) we prospectively investigated the etiologies of lower urinary tract symptoms( LUTS) and low uroflow in young men and correlated the results with clinical symptoms and noninvasive exams. Methods: From 1999 to 2001,

Identification of major congenital malformations based on healthcare databases in France: A proof‐of‐concept study using the epi‐meres nationwide mother–child register

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Aim Besides registries, healthcare databases can provide useful information for assessing the frequency of major congenital malformations (MCMs) and investigating their risk factors, particularly medication exposures. This study aimed to assess the validity of MCMs identification based on French national, comprehensive healthcare databases ...
