Lipopolysaccharide as trigger of platelet aggregation via eicosanoid over-production [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The effect of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) on platelet aggregation is still controversial. We performed in vitro and ex vivo studies in controls and in patients with community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) to assess the effect of LPS on platelet activation (PA ...

LPS Algorithms

open access: yes, 1984
LPS is a Logic Programming System currently under development and specially targeted for implementation on massively parallel architectures. We present a detailed explanation of algorithms under development for parallel execution of LPS programs. The explanation is significantly more detailed then those published previously. An abstract proof procedure

Realizations and LP

open access: yesAnnals of Pure and Applied Logic, 2007
Abstract LP  can be seen as a logic of knowledge with justifications. See [S. Artemov, The logic of justification, The Review of Symbolic Logic 1 (4) (2008) 477–513] for a recent comprehensive survey of justification logics generally. Artemov’s Realization Theorem says justifications can be extracted from validities in the more conventional Hintikka-

Evolving Paradigm of Prothrombin Time Diagnostics with Its Growing Clinical Relevance towards Cardio-Compromised and COVID-19 Affected Population

open access: yesSensors, 2021
Prothrombin time (PT) is a significant coagulation (hemostasis) biomarker used to diagnose several thromboembolic and hemorrhagic complications based on its direct correlation with the physiological blood clotting time.

Male gender predisposes to development of endotoxic shock in the rat [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Objective: After intravenous (i.v.) injection of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) macrophages release nitric oxide (NO) due to the expression of the inducible NO synthase (iNOS).

Downregulation of Tumor Necrosis Factor Expression in the Human Mono-Mac-6 Cell Line [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
Mono-Mac-6 cells, but not U937 cells, can be Induced to rapidly express tumor necrosis factor (TNF) mRNA and protein when triggered with Ilpopolysaccharlde (LPS) at 1 pg/mI. Preincubatlon of the cells for 3 d with low amounts of LPS (10 ng/mI) results In

Lp(a):a New Pathway to Target?

open access: yesCurrent atherosclerosis reports, 2022
Purpose of Review: Over the past decades, genetic and observational evidence has positioned lipoprotein(a) as novel important and independent risk factor for cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) and aortic valve stenosis. Recent Findings: As Lp(a) levels are determined genetically, lifestyle interventions have no effect on Lp(a)-mediated ASCVD risk.

Coronary Angiography Safety between Transradial and Transfemoral Access

open access: yesCardiology Research and Practice, 2016
Background and Aim. The aim of study was to evaluate safety, feasibility, and procedural variables of transradial approach compared with transfemoral approach in a standard population of patients undergoing coronary catheterization as one of the major ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.
