LPWAN in Civil Engineering

2021
Wave overtopping is a dangerous phenomenon that, in a port environment, takes place when waves that are higher than the port's breakwater meet it and water passes over the structure. This event can lead to property damage or physical harm to port workers.

LPWAN in the TV White Spaces

open access: yesTransactions on Embedded Computing Systems, 2021
Low-Power Wide-Area Network (LPWAN) is an enabling Internet-of-Things technology that supports long-range, low-power, and low-cost connectivity to numerous devices. To avoid the crowd in the limited ISM band (where most LPWANs operate) and cost of licensed band, the recently proposed Sensor Network over White Spaces (SNOW) is a promising LPWAN platform

MURS Band for LPWAN Applications

2019 IEEE Topical Conference on Wireless Sensors and Sensor Networks (WiSNet), 2019
This paper presents a transmission scheme and the hardware implementation in the Multi-Use Radio Service (MURS) band as a long range and low-power alternative solution for the Low Power Wide Area Networks (LPWAN) Internet of Things (IoT) applications.

LPWAN downlink using broadcast transmitters

2017 IEEE International Symposium on Broadband Multimedia Systems and Broadcasting (BMSB), 2017
Low Power Wide Area Networks (LPWANs) are a network type for connecting thousands of ultra-low power sensor-nodes to a base-station network, mainly using license-exempt frequency bands. Although the sensor-nodes use a transmit power of 10mW, such systems can reach a transmit distance of up to 40km by means of ultra-low payload bit-rates.

Methodology for testing LPWAN networks with mesh topology

The 4th International Conference on Future Networks and Distributed Systems (ICFNDS), 2020
The paper presents a methodology for testing LPWAN network with a mesh topology. Network testing is essential to identify and resolve problems before deploying the network on a large scale. Deploying a network without preliminary testing increases the number of wasted resources and does not guarantee the expected network performance.

CR-LPWAN: issues, solutions and research directions

2021 IEEE World AI IoT Congress (AIIoT), 2021
Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN) is a network technology that emanated from the swift advancement of the Internet of Things (IoT) market. It is characterized by low cost, long-range communications, low power consumptions, and better area coverage. However, LPWAN is faced with several challenges such as scalability, security, coexistence, management,
