ANSYS and LS-DYNA used for structural analysis
International Journal of Computer Aided Engineering and Technology, 2008This paper discusses the different features of ANSYS and LS-DYNA in solving structural analysis using finite element approach. ANSYS and LS-DYNA are two popular engineering software tools that are used for finite element analysis. The difference between ANSYS and LS-DYNA lies in different solution procedures and time integration methods they use. ANSYS

Fluid-Structure Interaction in LS-DYNA: Industrial Applications
Emerging Technology in Fluids, Structures, and Fluid Structure Interactions, 2002A new Fluid Sructure coulping algorithms basesd on the penalty method is dpresented in thi spaper. The coupling algorithm and improved multi-material ALE-capabilities have made LS-DYNA an efficient tool for analyzing large deformation processes, such as bird strike events, forging operations and penetration problems and airbag simumations.

High Explosive Impact Analysis Using LS-DYNA
Emerging Technology in Fluids, Structures, and Fluid Structure Interactions, 2003In order to realize numerical simulation of fast transient events, some wave propagation codes, which allow studying the time resolved development of shock wave propagation due to penetration, and detonation, were developed. In this article, Eulerian Multi-material and Arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian formulations are used.

LS-DYNA calculations of shocks in solids
Nuclear Physics B - Proceedings Supplements, 2006This paper concentrates on numerical studies of thermally induced shock waves in a tantalum target using the commercial LS-Dyna code. Initial calculations of the stresses induced in the Neutrino Factory target are presented as well as an estimation of the shock stresses resulting from pulsed heating of a tantalum wire using an electric current.

Finite Mass Simulation Techniques in LS-DYNA
21st AIAA Aerodynamic Decelerator Systems Technology Conference and Seminar, 2011This paper describes the development and results of numerical models describing parachute inflation behavior. The models were developed using Fluid Structure Interaction (FSI) techniques in the commercially available transient dynamic finite element code LSDYNA.

Multiphase and Chemically Reactive Flows in LS-DYNA
21st AIAA Computational Fluid Dynamics Conference, 2013We have developed a transient multiphase fluid dynamics and chemically reactive flow simulation capability in conjunction with the existing LS-DYNA FEM structure solver, which is a well-known general-purpose highly nonlinear, transient dynamic finite element software capable of simulating complex real world problems, and is widely used in automobile ...

LS‐DYNA and the 8:1 differentially heated cavity
International Journal for Numerical Methods in Fluids, 2001AbstractThis paper presents results computed using LS‐DYNA's new incompressible flow solver for a differentially heated cavity with an 8:1 aspect ratio at a slightly super‐critical Rayleigh number. Three Galerkin‐based solution methods are applied to the 8:1 thermal cavity on a sequence of four grids.
