Numerical Simulation of Dynamic Compaction Using Ls-Dyna

2009
In the process of dynamic compaction, large deformation occurs at some rammed points and their surrounding areas. In this paper, the vibration of dynamic compaction is analyzed with the large deformation theory and LS-DYNA finite element software is employed to simulation the process of dynamic compaction.

The Masonry Crack Propagation Simulation Based on LS-DYNA

Advanced Materials Research, 2014
Due to the development of the computer hardware and the difficulties in determining the constitutive relation, it is difficult to research the crack propagation of large-scale masonry with the finite elements analysis method. The paper analyses the single storey concrete block masonry experimental model with the software LS-DYNA, using winfrith ...

Manual interface LS-Dyna and MATLAB

2010
The goal of this manual is to give an introduction to build a data interface between the finite elements software LS-Dyna and the numerical computing environment MATLAB. A case study is used to illustrate the working principle of this interface. In this case study the dynamic behaviour of aluminium plates subjected to close range blast loads is ...

Validating FSI Simulations in LS-DYNA 971 R7

The latest release of LS-DYNA includes a multi-physics solver that combines computational fluid dynamics and structural solvers. This capability is a new computational design tool for the automotive industry. One of the simplest ways to reduce weight and increase fuel efficiency is to trim unnecessary weight from the body panels which comprise the ...

Fluid Structure Interaction Parachute Benchmark Models in LS-DYNA

AIAA Aerodynamic Decelerator Systems (ADS) Conference, 2013
This paper describes the development and results of numerical models describing system level parachute performance. The numerical models were developed to replicate a series of parachute drop tests conducted in the early 1950s. Wright Air Development Division Report AFTR 5867 documents 700 parachute drop tests, using twenty seven different parachutes ...
