Development and Validation of a Next‐Generation Mechanistic Model of the Electric Arc Furnace

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
This study presents a next‐generation mechanistic model of the electric arc furnace (EAF). It describes equations for all crucial processes appearing during the steel‐recycling process in an EAF, i.e., thermal, mass, and chemical. The model was parameterized and validated using industrial EAF data.

Universal conservation laws of the wave-particle-entanglement triad: theory and experiment

open access: yesLight: Science & Applications
When observed, a quantum system exhibits either wave-like or particle-like properties, depending on how it is measured. However, this duality is affected by the entanglement of the system with its quantum memory, raising a fundamental question: how are ...

Live-Streaming Commerce in the Supply Chain with Equity Cooperation: Independent or Cooperative?

open access: yesMathematics
Live-streaming commerce (LSC) has been adopted by an increasing number of supply-chain enterprises to enhance their market competitiveness. However, the question of who will lead live-streaming e-commerce in the supply chain (SC-LSC) is a key issue ...

Baselining Large Language Model Performance in Systems Engineering Using SysEngBench

open access: yesSystems Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In the rapidly evolving field of artificial intelligence (AI), large language model s (LLMs) have demonstrated impressive capabilities in generating natural language. However, their proficiency in specialized domains, particularly in the field of systems engineering (SE), remains less explored and unquantified.

Different features of acute myeloid leukemia stem cell quantification in intensively treated patients

open access: yesHaematologica
In acute myeloid leukemia, the burden of CD34+CD38- leukemia stem cells (LSC) has prognostic value at diagnosis and after induction chemotherapy. Since different methods of LSC quantification have been proposed, we determined the prognostic value on ...

Implications of Changing the Diagnostic Criteria for Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (CDC4G): A Healthcare Cost Analysis Alongside a Stepped Wedge Cluster Randomised Trial

open access: yesBJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics &Gynaecology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To estimate the effect on healthcare resource use after introducing the World Health Organization diagnostic criteria (WHO‐2013) for gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) compared to former criteria in Sweden (SWE‐GDM). Design A cost‐analysis alongside the Changing Diagnostic Criteria for Gestational Diabetes (CDC4G) randomised ...

The complexity of neighborhood effects: A developmental and ecological framework for violent victimization

open access: yesCriminology, EarlyView.
Abstract Extensive research has established a link between low self‐control and child victimization. However, the specific neighborhood conditions under which low self‐control most strongly influences victimization have been little examined, and, more importantly, no previous studies have investigated the complex ways in which neighborhood context ...

Pruning slash drives ambrosia beetle (Curculionidae: Scolytinae, Platypodinae) activity in Khaya grandifoliola C.DC.: Slash removal as a preventive management strategy Resíduos de poda aumentam a atividade de besouros da ambrosia (Curculionidae: Scolytinae, Platypodinae) em Khaya grandifoliola C.DC.: A remoção dos resíduos como estratégia preventiva de manejo

open access: yesAgricultural and Forest Entomology, EarlyView.
Slash retention increased ambrosia beetle activity in Khaya grandifoliola, acting as both breeding substrate and source of attractive volatile cues that promoted localized population buildup. Beetle attacks occurred only near retained slash, while no attacks were recorded in slash‐removal plots, demonstrating that residue removal effectively prevents ...
