Phenotypic Cuticle Plasticity at High Elevation: Is Microstructure and Microchemistry Related to Water Permeability?

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, Volume 49, Issue 3, Page 1778-1792, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Kalmia procumbens (K. procumbens), a ubiquitous alpine dwarf shrub, thrives at high elevations, particularly on wind‐exposed sites. Plants on contrasting north‐ and southeast‐facing slopes at ~2237 m elevation exhibit differences in leaf colour and growth, suggesting acclimative strategies.

Conjugative Transfer of Disease‐Encoding Plasmid Variants in Serratia spp. Alter Production of Enzymes and Virulence Properties

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 18, Issue 1, February 2026.
Analysis of plasmid transconjugants relative to plasmid‐free and plasmid‐carrying Serratia spp. demonstrates erratic disease phenotypes and reduced fitness. Transconjugants also show reduced ability to degrade substrates associated with virulence, supported by transcriptomic data.

Virulence of in vivo and in vitro produced conidia of Metarhizium brunneum strains for control of wireworms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Wireworms are the soil inhabiting larvae of click beetles and can cause severe damage to arable crops such as potatoes (Solanum tuberosum, L.). Several strains of the entomopathogenic fungus Metarhizium brunneum (Petch) are pathogenic to wireworms.

Cold hardiness of peach flowers at different phenological stages

open access: yesHorticultural Science, 2018
At the colder peach production regions it is important to know the cold hardiness of peach cultivars at different phenological stages of flowering. In our experiment, artificial freezing tests were conducted in a climate chamber in five selected years ...
