Bacteriomes, cryptic forms and evolution of a common wireworm pest species, Hypnoidus bicolor

open access: yesInsect Molecular Biology, EarlyView.
Wireworms are important agricultural pests, including Hypnoidus bicolor in the Canadian Prairies. Parthenogenetic and sexual populations of H. bicolor appear associated with different molecular clades. Bacterial community composition and structure were influenced by developmental stage, sampling location and host genetics.

Epidemiology and health burden of infective endocarditis: a comparative analysis of Australian vs global trends from 1990 to 2021

open access: yesInternal Medicine Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Infective endocarditis (IE) is an uncommon but life‐threatening disease with evolving patient risk profiles and management strategies. However, its impact on the Australian healthcare system has not been described. Aims To quantify the healthcare burden of IE in Australia over time in the past three decades and compare outcomes with

The TaRNS4–TaPP2C10 module regulates wheat resistance to stripe rust through RNA degradation and MAPK cascades

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
In wheat, phosphorylation of the S‐like RNase TaRNS4 mediated by the kinase TaRLK5 promotes its degradation of Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici RNA in the apoplast, enhancing resistance to stripe rust. TaRNS4 can hijack phosphatase TaPP2C10 to relieve its dephosphorylation of TaMAPK6, thereby activating MAPK‐mediated immune responses. ABSTRACT RNase

A robust biotechnology induces artificial genomic duplication via transient RNAi‐mediated suppression of OSD1 in rice

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
Plant Polyploidization via Gene Interference, a robust technology for inducing polyploidy in various rice accessions, uses transient RNAi‐mediated suppression of OSD1 to induce genomic duplication. Two strategies were used to directly induce fertile autotetraploid plants in the first generation, thereby substantially shortening the breeding cycle ...
