Lu–Hf and Sm–Nd isotopic systematics in chondrites and their constraints on the Lu–Hf properties of the Earth

Earth and Planetary Science Letters, 2004
Sm–Nd and Lu–Hf isotopic data are presented for 19 chondritic meteorites: six carbonaceous chondrites, five L-chondrites, seven H-chondrites, and a single enstatite chondrite. The primary goal of the study is to better define the Bulk Silicate Earth (BSE) reference values for Hf isotopes.

Isotopic evidence for chondritic Lu/Hf and Sm/Nd of the Moon

Earth and Planetary Science Letters, 2013
Abstract Refractory lithophile elements are generally considered to occur in chondritic relative abundances in terrestrial planets. This assumption forms the basis for using isotope systems such as 176Lu–176Hf and 146, 147Sm–142, 143Nd as tracers of planetary evolution.

The Hf-INATOR: A free data reduction spreadsheet for Lu/Hf isotope analysis

Earth Science Informatics, 2017
During the last decade, the in situ Lu-Hf isotope methodology has been widely used in Earth sciences and the number of laboratories performing Lu-Hf analysis has increased together with dedicated scientific software. However, free and user-friendly software for the Lu-Hf data reduction is currently missing. We present the ‘Hf-INATOR’, a new interactive

Isotopic Atlas of Australia, Lu Hf and O isotope data structure and delivery. Version 1.1

2023
A minor update to Version 1.0: Lu Hf and O isotope data structure and delivery.Isotopic data from rocks and minerals have the potential to yield unique insights into the composition and evolution of the Earth's crust and mantle. Time-integrated records of crust and mantle differentiation (as preserved by the U-Pb, Sm-Nd and Lu-Hf isotopic systems, for ...

Lu-Hf and PbSL geochronology of apatites from Proterozoic terranes: A first look at Lu-Hf isotopic closure in metamorphic apatite

Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta, 2005
Abstract The mineral apatite is characterized by elevated and highly variable Lu/Hf ratios that, in some cases, allow for single-crystal dating by the Lu-Hf isotopic system. Apatites from the Adirondack Lowlands and Otter Lake area in the Grenville Province, and from the Black Hills, South Dakota, yield Lu-Hf ages that are consistently older than ...

On the Lu‐Hf Isotope Geochemistry of Silicate Rocks

Geostandards Newsletter, 2001
This paper reviews the history (TIMS, hot‐SIMS, MC‐ICP‐MS), significance, geochemical behaviour and current uncertainties (λ176 Lu, Hf‐Nd Bulk Silicate Earth) surrounding the Lu‐Hf isotope system, and thus marks two decades of its application to geochemical problems.

The Lu-Hf isotope geochemistry of chondrites and the evolution of the mantle-crust system

Earth and Planetary Science Letters, 1997
Abstract We report analyses of the176Hf/177Hf ratio for 25 chondrites from different classes of meteorites (C, O, and E) and the176Lu/177Hf ratio for 23 of these as measured by plasma source mass spectrometry. We have obtained a new set of present-day mean values in chondrites of176Hf/177Hf= 0.282772 ± 29 and176Lu/177Hf= 0.0332 ± 2.
