Determination of lubricant selection based on elastohydrodynamic film thickness and traction measurement [PDF]

open access: yes
The project was conducted to aid in the development of an elastohydrodynamic specification for military lubricants. Experiments were conducted with a rolling disk apparatus designed to simulate a bearing or gear type contact.

A Tac1‐Expressing Brainstem Pathway Underlies the Pathogenesis of Trigeminal Neuralgia

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A critical TG‐Sp5CTac1‐PBNTac1 pathway drives trigeminal neuropathic pain (TNP). Tac1‐expressing parabrachial nucleus (PBNTac1) neurons exhibit heightened responses to innocuous stimuli in TNP, and chemogenetic inhibition of these neurons effectively prevents TNP development.

Resin additive improves performance of high-temperature hydrocarbon lubricants [PDF]

open access: yes, 1971
Paraffinic resins, in high temperature applications, improve strength of thin lubricant film in Hertzian contacts even though they do not increase bulk oil viscosity.

Injectable Chondroitin Sulfate Methacrylate Hydrogel Microspheres Co‐Loaded with GLPM Nanozyme, Dexamethasone, and Stem Cells for Synergistic Osteoarthritis Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A multifunctional injectable microsphere system is fabricated via UV‐assisted microfluidic cross‐linking, integrating nanozyme‐based ROS scavenging, sustained dexamethasone release, and stem cell delivery. Upon IA injection, the microspheres adapt to joint stress, suppress inflammation, and promote cartilage regeneration, offering a minimally invasive ...

Comparison of release torques of tightened bolts in vacuum and air [PDF]

open access: yes, 1970
Various combinations of stainless steel, mild steel, and aluminum bolt-nut couples are tightened to 60 lb-ft in partial vacuum and in air. Results are given for tests with and without two lubricants /a fluorosilicone and a sodium silicate bonded dry-film/

The Dynamic Energy Band Model of Contact‐Separation and Sliding Mode Triboelectric Charging of Polymers at the Metal‐Polymer Interface

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Triboelectric charge generation at polymer‐metal interfaces arises from the interplay of intra‐ and inter transformation reactions of mechanochemically generated species, physical properties of polymers, environmental conditions. The direction and the magnitude of electron transfer between metal and polymer are dynamically governed by the relative ...

AI‐Enhanced Vibrational Capsule for Minimally Invasive Detection of Abnormal Bowel Tissue

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A fully integrated vibration‐assisted capsule is presented for the minimally invasive detection of bowel lesions. The capsule incorporates a wireless sensor and an eccentric motor to probe tissue mechanics in situ. By coupling triaxial vibration signals with AI‐based classification and analytical modeling, the system enables early, non‐visual ...
