Natural Control of Lucilia sericata
Nature, 1930AT the Farnham House Laboratory of the Imperial Bureau of Entomology, experiments are being carried on to determine the value of the braconid parasite Alysia manducator Panzer as a controlling agent of the sheep blowfly, Lucilia sericata Meigen. Preliminary studies of the bionomics of the host have been in progress for nearly a year.

Lucilia sericata MEIGEN, 1826 Kosmopolitisch verbreitete Art, deren Larven sich in Kadavern entwickeln. Die Zahl der von einem Weibchen insgesamt produzierten Eier beträgt 2000-3000, die jeweils in Gelegen von etwa 200 Stück abgelegt werden. Die Art ist auch als Wundschmarotzer von Mensch und Tier und als Verursacher der Schaf-Myiasis bekannt.
