Lucilia sericata MEIGEN, 1826 Kosmopolitisch verbreitete Art, deren Larven sich in Kadavern entwickeln. Die Zahl der von einem Weibchen insgesamt produzierten Eier beträgt 2000-3000, die jeweils in Gelegen von etwa 200 Stück abgelegt werden. Die Art ist auch als Wundschmarotzer von Mensch und Tier und als Verursacher der Schaf-Myiasis bekannt.
