Expanding the Clinical Spectrum of Cousin Syndrome: A Novel Biallelic Missense Variant in TBX15 Causing a Milder Phenotype

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, Volume 197, Issue 12, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Cousin syndrome is a rare skeletal dysplasia characterized by distinctive facial features, humeroradial synostosis, and hypoplasia of the ilia and scapula. Since the original description of the phenotype in two cases by Cousin in 1982, only three additional cases have been published.

Review of the anatomical basis for predicting plutonium alpha particle radiation induced osteogenic cancers

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, Volume 308, Issue 12, Page 3197-3229, December 2025.
Abstract Plutonium was discovered and first synthesized in the early 1940's. Several isotopes of plutonium are used in nuclear technologies, 238Pu for heat generation and 239Pu for energy production and weapons. Both isotopes emit alpha particles, which pose a significant radiation hazard when incorporated into the body.

Impact of Tennis‐Specific Hitting and Running Loads on Respiration Patterns Compared to Treadmill Running With Similar Oxygen Uptake

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Sport Science, Volume 25, Issue 12, December 2025.
ABSTRACT This study aimed to compare respiratory patterns and gas exchange during tennis and treadmill running at similar oxygen uptake. On three experimental days, 15 elite players (7 female, 8 male) completed a standardized tennis protocol (TP), a treadmill‐based incremental running test (RT), and a metabolically matched running protocol (RP).

Role of Branched‐Chain Amino Acids in Mitigating Osteosarcopenia: An Experimental Study Using Ovariectomised Mice Models

open access: yesJournal of Cachexia, Sarcopenia and Muscle, Volume 16, Issue 6, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Osteosarcopenia, characterised by concurrent bone loss and muscle atrophy, presents a significant challenge in aging populations, particularly in postmenopausal women. The current therapeutic options potentially treat bone and muscle loss independently, highlighting the importance of an integrated approach.

High Loss of Adipose Tissue During Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy Predicts Poor Prognosis in Patients With Gastric Cancer

open access: yesJournal of Cachexia, Sarcopenia and Muscle, Volume 16, Issue 6, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Gastric cancer (GC) patients often have nutritional risks or malnutrition, and neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) tends to exacerbate malnutrition. Body composition parameters are associated with the prognosis of GC patients. Little is known about body composition changes during NAC and its role in clinical outcomes.

Cachexia and Wasting in Chronic Illness: Regulatory and Clinical Trial Update

open access: yesJournal of Cachexia, Sarcopenia and Muscle, Volume 16, Issue 6, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Cachexia, a syndrome marked by nonintentional weight loss, muscle wasting, functional decline and poor prognosis, affects 50%–80% of cancer patients, severely impacting quality of life, treatment tolerance and survival. A ‘Regulatory and Trial Update Workshop’ was organized by the Society on Cachexia and Wasting Disorders (SCWD) in December ...
