Endo-luminal ultrasonic instrument and method for its use

open access: closedThe Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1994
An endo-luminal ultrasonic instrument has a motor with a rotatable drive shaft that oscillates back and forth. A flexible catheter sheath is coupled at one end to the motor to oscillate with the drive shaft. The sheath has an axis about which it oscillates and a diameter sized to fit inside a human blood vessel or other body lumen.

Luminance Specifications for Automobile Instrument Panels

Human Factors: The Journal of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, 1976
To establish a minimum luminance level, a psychophysical procedure was used to establish the 95% correctness threshold for 95% of older drivers (ages ranged from 45 to 67). The correctness threshold and subject response times were obtained over eight letter luminance levels, four letter sizes, and three contrast ratios. The results

Instruments for the measurement of the brightness of radioactive luminous compounds

Journal of Scientific Instruments, 1931
In this paper instruments are described for the measurement of luminous compound of brightness of the order of 0.02 candle per sq. ft. One instrument is used for surfaces larger than about 6 mm. diameter, and the other, embodying the Maxwellian view, is designed for measuring smaller surfaces than this.
