Portable instrument to measure the average luminance coefficient of a road surface

Measurement Science and Technology, 2014
We describe a portable instrument that measures the average luminance coefficient of a road surface, Q0, in the field. The design employs a modified integrating hemisphere with light-emitting diode lamps as light sources and a calibrated charge-coupled device luminance meter with an observation angle of 1° as the detector.

Novel Techniques and Instrumentation for EMR, ESD, and Full-Thickness Endoscopic Luminal Resection

Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Clinics of North America, 2007
Endoscopic intervention is evolving into an established therapeutic alternative for small superficial lesions, and an eventual application for en bloc resection of large lesions, deeper layers, and a reliable access to lesions outside of the gastrointestinal wall.

An Instrument for Measuring the Direct Transmission Factor of Luminous Flux in Inhomogeneous Media

Optica Acta: International Journal of Optics, 1971
The paper presents an instrument for measuring the direct transmission factor of luminous flux in inhomogeneous media. In the first part the basic concepts are introduced and the problem of transmission measurements for the specific case of inhomogeneous solids is defined.

Photographic Instrumentation for Triangulation Studies of Luminous Clouds in the Upper Atmosphere

Applied Optics, 1964
Instrumentation has been developed for obtaining triangulation photographs of luminous clouds in the upper atmosphere. These clouds are created by the release of chemicals such as sodium and cesium from rockets. The instrumentation has been used on approximately eighty rocket firings.

Effects of Instrument Panel Luminance and Chromaticity on Reading Performance and Preference in Simulated Driving

Human Factors: The Journal of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, 1989
Twenty-four subjects (men and women from three age groups) read aloud words presented on two displays emulating written legends on automobile instrument panels while driving a simulated vehicle in nighttime conditions. The words were presented in eight different chromaticities, two brightness levels, four character sizes, and two levels of word ...

An instrument to monitor the luminance of pattern visual evoked potential stimuli

Journal of Medical Engineering & Technology, 1985
When recording pattern visual evoked potentials it is important that the overall luminance of the pattern and the relative luminance of the pattern elements (for example checks or bars) are maintained at a constant level. This paper describes a low-cost battery-powered instrument designed and constructed to measure the luminance of specific areas of ...

Combining the use of two non‐invasive instruments to confirm that a formula can improve skin luminance while respecting constitutive melanogenesis

Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, 2022
AbstractIntroductionSkin radiance products achieve perceivable benefits with different sort of mechanism of action.AimsTo use two non‐invasive instrumental devices to evaluate the effectiveness of a cosmetic formula designed to improve skin reflectance while respecting skin integrity.Patients and MethodsSubjects (N = 43) aged 18–50 years old had ...

NIST traceable measurements of radiance and luminance levels of night-vision-goggle test-instruments

SPIE Proceedings, 2014
In order to perform radiance and luminance level measurements of night-vision-goggle (NVG) test instruments, NIST developed new-generation transfer-standard radiometers (TR). The new TRs can perform low-level radiance and luminance measurements with SI traceability and low uncertainty.

Development of measuring instruments for long-term measurement of low level illuminances and luminances

2010 9th International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering, 2010
The paper deals with long-term measuring instruments for light data collected under the night sky. The point of such measurements is to quantify the obtrusive light and compare the level of the obtrusive light in populated industrial areas and out of them.
