Ultrafast opto-magnetic effects induced by nitrogen-vacancy centers in diamond crystals

open access: yesAPL Photonics, 2022
The current generation of quantum sensing technologies using color centers in diamond crystals is primarily based on the principle that the resonant microwave frequency of the luminescence between quantum levels of the nitrogen-vacancy (NV) center varies

Study of Mn2+ luminescence in β-PbF2 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
© 2018 Elsevier B.V. For the first time excitation and luminescence spectra of Mn2+ ions in β-PbF2 crystals at 77 and 300 K, and also the luminescence lifetime are studied.

Probing luminescence centers in Na rich feldspar [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In contrast to the detailed investigations on the dosimetric electron trap in feldspar only little has been done to understand the luminescence centers.

Enhanced Spontaneous Emission Rates for Single Isoelectronic Luminescence Centers in Photonic Crystal Cavities [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Purcell effect enhancement of spontaneous emission rates is demonstrated for isoelectronic trap single-photon emitters. Two-dimensional photonic crystal slabs with L3 defects were fabricated in nitrogen delta-doped GaAs. Photoluminescence spectra of each

Delivery of DNA‐encoded vaccines and proteins in mice using cutaneous suction‐mediated transfection

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cutaneous suction‐mediated transfection in mice for delivery of DNA‐encoded vaccines and proteins. A critical limitation of DNA vaccines and other therapeutics is transfection in vivo to produce the encoded antigens or therapeutic proteins. Cutaneous suction‐based methods have demonstrated effectiveness in many animal models and have been successfully ...

Identification of Luminescence Centers in Molecular-Sized Silicon Carbide Nanocrystals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Understanding the fluorescence of complex systems such as small nanocrystals with various surface terminations in solution is still a scientific challenge. Here we show that the combination of advanced time-resolved spectroscopy and ab initio simulations,

Recycling of NiTi Shape Memory Alloys: Fundamental and Technological Aspects of a Vacuum Induction Melting Processing Route

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The present study investigates recycling of NiTi shape memory alloys via vacuum induction melting. An ingot was synthesized from elemental Ni and Ti and subjected to three subsequent remelting cycles. Remelting increases process durations and impurity levels and adversely affects microstructures and functional properties.

Influence of Surface Finish on the Tribological Performance of AlTiBN Coatings Deposited on Forming Tools

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Aluminum and nitride coatings are used in industry because they are hard, resist wear, and protect against oxidation. Adding boron can improve friction behavior and other properties. This study tests coatings on surfaces with different finishes. Results show smoother surfaces perform better, while rough ones wear faster, although coatings can reduce ...

Strain‐Programmable Luminescent Adhesive Patch With Tartrazine‐Mediated Optical Skin Clearing for Photochemical Tissue Bonding

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We propose a suture‐complementary approach that integrates optical skin clearing with a strain‐programmable luminescent adhesive patch. Hyaluronic acid promotes transdermal delivery of tartrazine to improve optical clearing and stabilizes its interaction with a photosensitizer. Optical clearing increases the penetration depth of visible light into skin,

Defect induced changes on the excitation transfer dynamics in ZnS/Mn nanowires

open access: yesNanoscale Research Letters, 2011
Transients of Mn internal 3d 5 luminescence in ZnS/Mn nanowires are strongly non-exponential. This non-exponential decay arises from an excitation transfer from the Mn ions to so-called killer centers, i.e., non-radiative defects in the nanostructures ...
