Divalent europium-doped near-infrared-emitting phosphor for light-emitting diodes

open access: yesNature Communications, 2019
Here the authors report a near-infrared K3LuSi2O7:Eu2+ phosphor for non-visible light source application. The selective site occupation of Eu2+ in LuO6 and K2O6 polyhedrons is found to be responsible for the light emission and these insights could serve ...

Moisture-triggered fast crystallization enables efficient and stable perovskite solar cells

open access: yesNature Communications, 2022
Perovskite structure is disturbed by environmental moisture, limiting the device performance. Here, Wei et al. monitor the effect of moisture during the growth by N2-protected characterization techniques, and obtain an operationally stable perovskite ...

A survey of liquid crystalline oxadiazoles

open access: yes, 2008
We propose a survey of those oxadiazole compounds, which are mesogenic. We will see that they can have bend-shaped molecules, a biaxial nematic phase, or other interesting peculiarities in the nematic and smectic phase.

Glucose sensor based on the LUQUEN-principle [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
A new type of glucose sensor based on luminescence quenching (LUQUEN) is proposed. In this LUQUEN principle the concentration induced quenching is enlarged by radiationless (excited-state) energy transfer within the luminescent material.

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.
