Gigantic directional asymmetry of luminescence in multiferroic CuB2O4 [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. B 93, 201109 (2016), 2016
We report direction dependent luminescence (DDL), i.e., the asymmetry in the luminescence intensity between the opposite directions of the emission, in multiferroic CuB2O4. Although it is well known that the optical constants can change with the reversal of the propagation direction of light in multiferroic materials, the largest asymmetry in the ...

Preparation and Properties of Rare-earth-doped Na2Ca3Si2O8 and BaZrSi3O9 Matrix Luminescent Materials

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2018
To achieve higher quality temperature measurement, this paper studies the rare-earth-doped Na2Ca3Si2O8 and BaZrSi3O9 matrix luminescent materials. The paper mainly adopts sol-gel method to prepare luminescent material in the form of thin film and powder.

Luminescence Decay and the Absorption Cross-Section of Individual Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. Lett. 101, 077402 (2008), 2009
The absorption cross section of highly luminescent individual single-walled carbon nanotubes is determined using time-resolved and cw luminescence spectroscopy. A mean value of 1x10-17 cm2 per carbon atom is obtained for (6,5) tubes excited at their second optical transition, and corroborated by single tube photothermal absorption measurements ...

Phenol-Formaldehyde Resin for Optical-Chemical Temperature Sensing

open access: yesSensors, 2018
The application of phenol-formaldehyde (PF) resin as an optical temperature sensor is investigated. Recent developments in optical luminescent sensors allow for global measurements to be made over the surface of a test article, extending beyond ...

Structure, photoluminescence, Judd–Ofelt analysis, and thermal stability studies of Ho3+/Yb3+ Co-doped YNbO4 green phosphors

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2023
A series of YNbO4:Ho3+/Yb3+ phosphors with varying concentrations of Yb3+ were synthesized using a high-temperature solid-state method. To ascertain the presence, structure, and purity of YNbO4:Ho3+/Yb3+, the crystal structure of the luminescent powder ...

Luminescence from cavitation bubbles deformed in uniform pressure gradients [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E 96(3) 033114 (2017), 2017
Presented here are observations that demonstrate how the deformation of millimetric cavitation bubbles by a uniform pressure gradient quenches single collapse luminescence. Our innovative measurement system captures a broad luminescence spectrum (wavelength range 300-900 nm) from the individual collapses of laser-induced bubbles in water.
