Luneburg lens in silicon photonics [PDF]

open access: yesOptics Express, 2011
The Luneburg lens is an aberration-free lens that focuses light from all directions equally well. We fabricated and tested a Luneburg lens in silicon photonics. Our technique is sufficiently versatile for making perfect imaging devices on silicon platforms.

Directional Cloaking by Quadruple Luneburg Lens System

open access: yes2018 20th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks (ICTON), 2018
In this study, we propose a method based on graded-index medium in order to cloak scatterer objects. We use discretized Luneburg lenses as a graded-index medium and the proposed structure consists of four discretized Luneburg lenses, i. e., it is can be considered as a quadruple Luneburg lens system.

A Luneburg lens for spin waves [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Physics Letters, 2018
We report on the theory of a Luneburg lens for forward-volume magnetostatic spin waves and verify its operation via micromagnetic modelling. The lens converts a plane wave to a point source, and vice versa, by a designed graded refractive index, realized by modulating either the thickness or the saturation magnetization in a circular region.

Whether we win or with whom we watch: How international sporting events link to life satisfaction and work motivation. [PDF]

open access: yesBr J Soc Psychol
Abstract International sporting events like the UEFA EURO 2024 provide a powerful natural context to study how social identity dynamics and social processes link to well‐being and motivation beyond the sporting domain. In this pre‐registered longitudinal experience‐sampling study (N = 842; k = 2,414 post‐game responses) across five European countries ...

Compact parallel‐plate waveguide half‐Luneburg geodesic lens in the Ka‐band

open access: yesIET Microwaves, Antennas & Propagation, 2021
A parallel‐plate waveguide half‐Luneburg geodesic lens is designed and experimentally validated in the Ka‐band. The geodesic lens profile is modulated using spline functions to reduce its height, while the symmetry halving the lens enables reduction of ...

Profile thickness synthesis of thin-film waveguide Luneburg lens

open access: yesDiscrete and Continuous Models and Applied Computational Science, 2022
In the work the link between the focusing inhomogeneity of the effective refractive index of waveguide Luneburg lens and the irregularity of the waveguide layer thickness generating this inhomogeneity is demonstrated.

Gradient-Index-Based Frequency-Coded Retroreflective Lenses for mm-Wave Indoor Localization

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
This article introduces retroreflective lenses for millimeter-wave radio-frequency indoor localization. A three-dimensional (3D) gradient-index Luneburg lens is employed to increase radar cross section (RCS) of photonic-crystal high-Q resonators and its ...
