Safety and Metabolic Effects of Withania somnifera Seed Extract and Powder in Rats: Insights From DPP‐4 Molecular Docking

open access: yesFood Safety and Health, EarlyView.
Withania somnifera seed extract and powder improved metabolic parameters in rats, particularly at higher extract doses, without evident hepatic, renal, hematological, or histopathological toxicity. Molecular docking further predicted strong DPP‐4 inhibitory potential of withanone, supporting the antidiabetic potential of W. somnifera seeds.

Lung protective ventilation during one lung ventilation

open access: yes, 2014
Bu çalışmanın amacı, tek akciğer ventilasyonu (TAV) uygulanan hastalarda diğer akciğerin solutulması sırasında, "geleneksel akciğer ventilasyonu" ile "akciğer koruyucu ventilasyon" uygulamalarının ameliyat süresince ve sonrasında beklenen komplikasyonlar

Monocyte inflammation and adaptive immune dysfunction in severe Klebsiella pneumoniae pneumonia

open access: yesiMeta, EarlyView.
Severe Klebsiella pneumoniae pneumonia combines intense inflammation with failure to control infection, yet the cellular basis is unclear. Using a severity‐focused single‐cell atlas of 708,894 peripheral blood mononuclear cells from 100 individuals, complemented by plasma protein measurements and flow cytometry, we show that disease severity redirects ...

Unfractionated Heparin and Low‐Molecular‐Weight Heparin in Sepsis: Anti‐Inflammatory and Anticoagulant Effects Versus No Anticoagulation—A Propensity Score‐Matched Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, EarlyView.
This propensity score‐matched study compared unfractionated heparin (UFH) and low‐molecular‐weight heparin (LMWH) in 1362 sepsis patients, finding that both significantly improved survival without increasing 90‐day bleeding risk. However, their therapeutic mechanisms differed: UFH demonstrated broader anti‐inflammatory effects by reducing IL‐6, IL‐8 ...

Visual Patterns of Diaphragmatic Motion in Acute Respiratory Failure: A Prospective Pilot Study

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Ultrasound, Volume 53, Issue 3, Page 421-428, March/April 2025.
In this prospective bicentric study, we studied the relationship between the appearance of diaphragmatic motion and the etiological diagnosis of patients admitted to the emergency department with ARF. We observed a different visual pattern in patients with pneumonia. This is an interesting result as it allows the diagnosis of pneumonia without the need

Lung protective ventilation in ARDS: The open lung maneuver

open access: yes, 2006
This review addresses the current state of lung protective strategies and their physiological rationale. Lung protective ventilation can reduce mortality in adult respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) patients.

Lung-protective mechanical ventilation is not sex neutral

open access: yes
Ventilator-induced lung injury can be mitigated with a lung-protective ventilation strategy that includes ventilation with low tidal volumes. Mortality in acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) remains higher in females than in males, and females ...

[Lung protective ventilation - supportive and adjunctive therapies in acute lung injury]

open access: yes, 2008
Various supportive and adjunctive therapies to conventional mechanical ventilation have been evaluated in patients with acute lung injury and acute respiratory distress syndrome (e.g. nitric oxide, prone position, surfactant, glucocorticoids).

Diaphragm Ultrasonography Reveals Progressive Changes in Diaphragmatic Function, Morphology, and Muscle Trophism During Invasive Mechanical Ventilation in Children

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Ultrasound, EarlyView.
Diaphragm ultrasonography detected progressive structural and functional deterioration in mechanically ventilated children. Prolonged invasive mechanical ventilation and neuromuscular blocking agent use were associated with ventilator‐induced diaphragmatic dysfunction, highlighting ultrasound as a valuable bedside tool to support individualized ...
