Abstract Objective Pre‐eclampsia (PE) and small for gestational age (SGA) can be predicted from the first trimester. The most widely used algorithm worldwide is the Fetal Medicine Foundation (FMF) algorithm. The recently described Gaussian algorithm has reported excellent results although it is unlikely to be externally validated.

Clustering methods and Bayesian inference for the analysis of the evolution of immune disorders [PDF]
Choosing appropriate hyperparameters for unsupervised clustering algorithms in an optimal way depending on the problem under study is a long standing challenge, which we tackle while adapting clustering algorithms for immune disorder diagnoses. We compare the potential ability of unsupervised clustering algorithms to detect disease flares and remission

Artesunate Inhibits Neointimal Hyperplasia by Promoting IRF4 Associated Macrophage Polarization
This study shows that macrophage interferon regulatory factor 4 (IRF4) improved arterial injury‐induced neointimal hyperplasia by promoting of M2 polarization via up‐regulating krüppel‐like factor 4 (KLF4) in rodent and nonhuman primate models. Notably, artesunate is identified as a potent inducer of IRF4 in macrophages, and proposed as a promising ...

Lactobacillus johnsonii and its associated purine metabolite inosine not only restrict systemic B cell differentiation, but also contribute to immune cell infiltration in the kidneys, thereby serving dual functions in mitigating the progression of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).

Depressed serum IgM levels in SLE are restricted to defined subgroups [PDF]
Natural IgM autoantibodies have been proposed to convey protection from autoimmune pathogenesis. Herein, we investigated the IgM responses in 396 systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patients, divided into subgroups based on distinct autoantibody profiles. Depressed IgM levels were more common in SLE than in matched population controls.

GPA-Tree: Statistical Approach for Functional-Annotation-Tree-Guided Prioritization of GWAS Results [PDF]
Motivation: In spite of great success of genome-wide association studies (GWAS), multiple challenges still remain. First, complex traits are often associated with many single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), each with small or moderate effect sizes. Second, our understanding of the functional mechanisms through which genetic variants are associated ...

Determinant Factors of Morbidity in Patients with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus
Introduction: Severity in systemic lupus erythematosus may vary from mild to even fatal consequences. There are no biomarkers to predict the disease’s prognosis.
