Da 'portugalidade' à lusofonia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
“Esta investigação pretende observar de que modo a ‘portugalidade’ pontua a construção da lusofonia. O conceito ‘portugalidade’ decorre de uma lógica estado-novista para que as ex-colónias fossem vistas pela ONU não como territórios autónomos, mas como ...

Valorization of fishing industry by‐products for biodiesel production: Unlocking the potential of residual fish oil

open access: yesBiofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining, Volume 20, Issue 2, Page 1111-1141, March/April 2026.
Abstract Fishing waste and its by‐products, whether naturally occurring or generated by the processing industry, represent a significant opportunity for producing high‐value products. These often discarded or underutilized residues can be converted into various valuable products through advanced processing technologies. Among the potential products are

Photons as Working Body for Photovoltaic Devices: Conversion of Photon to Electron from a Simplified Perspective

open access: yesAdvanced Theory and Simulations, Volume 9, Issue 1, January 2026.
In this work two models to study the photovoltaic response of solar cells are reported. The first model considers the bandgap effect to quantify the conversion of photons into electrons that makes up the photocurrent in the maximum electrical output power condition. The second model quantifies photocurrent in the short circuit condition from the energy

Plasma‐Activated Water Primes Black Rice Starch for Amplified Hydrothermal Modification: Structural Insights and Enhanced Digestibility [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of food science.
ABSTRACT This study evaluated the ability of plasma‐activated water (PAW) to modulate black rice starch response to autoclaving. Six formulations were prepared: native starch (Native), starch treated with PAW for 30 or 60 min (P30, P60), starch autoclaved only (AC), and starch subjected to PAW for 30 or 60 min prior to autoclaving (P30AC, P60AC).

Neem oil (Azadirachta indica) as a promising feedstock for biolubricant production: enzymatic synthesis, process optimization, and molecular studies

open access: yesBiofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining, Volume 20, Issue 1, Page 237-252, January/February 2026.
Abstract The fuel industry remains closely tied to oil‐based fuels. This relationship is responsible for increasing greenhouse gas emissions. Biofuels are an alternative to petroleum‐based fuels that could make industrial production lines more sustainable.

Dual Lipase Immobilization on Kaolin‐Based Support for High Catalytic Efficiency and Long‐Term Stability

open access: yesChemCatChem, Volume 18, Issue 2, 28 January 2026.
This study presents the co‐immobilization of CALB and Eversa lipases on functionalized kaolin, followed by process optimization using the Taguchi method. The graphical abstract illustrates the immobilization strategy, optimization workflow, and computational analysis describing enzyme–support interactions, highlighting how structural and energetic ...

A “crise dos refugiados” na Europa – entre totalidade e infinito

open access: yesComunicação e Sociedade, 2019
O eu e o outro. A totalidade e o infinito. Ou seja, a totalidade como o discurso do eu, que apaga o outro; e o infinito como o discurso do outro, que limita e impõe reservas ao discurso da totalidade. É numa relação face a face que eu encontro o outro, o

Effect of Irrigation Strategies and Soil Mulching on the Yield of Capsicum chinense in a Semiarid Region

open access: yesInternational Journal of Agronomy, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Deficit irrigation strategies are essential for agricultural production in water‐scarce regions. However, this study addresses the critical knowledge gap regarding the combined use of this technique with mulching to enhance water use efficiency in crops, such as Capsicum chinense (commonly known as “pimenta de cheiro”). Such studies should also address
