Dietary Baicalin Supplementation Can Enhance the Growth Performance of Weaned Piglets and Maintain the Intestinal Barrier Integrity

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
This research innovatively illustrates baicalin’s multifaceted mechanisms in enhancing piglets’ intestinal health: modulating bile acid metabolism via probiotics, reinforcing tight junction proteins (ZO‐1/claudin), suppressing TLR4/NF‐κB‐mediated inflammation, whereas promoting growth and reducing diarrhea.

UV-ABC screens of luteolin derivatives compared to edelweiss extract

open access: yes, 2021
Pure luteolin is a remarkably heat (200 °C/6 days) and UV stable UV-A screen, however, native luteolin enriched to 37% in an edelweiss extract lost its UV-A screen properties upon UV irradiation (∼4 MJ m−2).

From Inflammatory Bowel Disease to Cancer: Gut Microbiota–Immune Microenvironment Crosstalk and Natural Product‐Based Therapeutic Opportunities

open access: yesCancer Nexus, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), primarily Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, is a chronic relapsing inflammatory disorder of the gastrointestinal tract and an important risk factor for IBD‐associated cancer. Increasing evidence suggests that gut microbiota dysbiosis, epithelial barrier dysfunction, and immune microenvironment remodeling

Molecular targets of luteolin in cancer [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Cancer Prevention, 2016
Many food-derived phytochemical compounds and their derivatives represent a cornucopia of new anticancer compounds. Despite extensive study of luteolin, the literature has no information on the exact mechanisms or molecular targets through which it deters cancer progression.

Potential of Bee Pollen as a Nutraceutical And/Or Functional Ingredient for Metabolic Syndrome Management: In Vitro Antioxidant, Anti‐Inflammatory, and Digestive Enzyme Inhibitory Activities

open access: yesFood Chemistry International, EarlyView.
Bee pollen samples from China and Spain exhibited in vitro antioxidant, anti‐inflammatory, and digestive enzyme inhibitory activities due to their composition, suggesting their potential as a nutraceutical or functional ingredient to help counteract oxidative stress, chronic inflammation, and metabolic disorders.

The Effect of Luteolin and Luteoloside on the Secondary Structure of Lysozyme

open access: yesJournal of Food Quality, 2021
The changes of lysozyme conformation in the absence and presence of luteolin and luteoloside were investigated by spectral analysis including fluorescence, UV, CD, Raman, and ATR-FTIR, and the biological activity of lysozyme was investigated by lysozyme ...
