Nocturnal fish movement and trophic flow across habitat boundaries in a coral reef ecosystem (SW Puerto Rico) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Few studies have quantified the extent of nocturnal cross-habitat movements for fish, or the influence of habitat adjacencies on nutrient flows and trophodynamics.

20 Years Later: Updated Stock Assessment of Snappers in Northeast Brazil Using an Integrated Stock Assessment Framework

open access: yesFisheries Management and Ecology, Volume 33, Issue 1, Page 69-87, February 2026.
ABSTRACT We updated the stock status of Lutjanus analis, Lutjanus jocu, Lutjanus synagris, and Ocyurus chrysurus harvested along the Brazilian northeastern coast. Stock boundaries were defined according to the Marine Ecoregion classifications at a finer scale, to reflect the population structure of each species.

Two new species in the genus Cucullanus (Nematoda - Cucullanidae) from the australian region

open access: yesMemorias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, 1992
Two new species of Cucullanus are described: C. bourdini n. sp. and C. laurotravassosi n. sp. C. bourdini is a parasite of Pristipomoides filamentosus , Aprion virescens and P. flavipinnis (Lutjanidae) in New Caledonia.

Demographic characteristics of exploited tropical lutjanids: a comparative analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Demographic parameters from seven exploited coral reef lutjanid species were compared as a case study of the implications of intrafamily variation in life histories for multispecies harvest management.

Carbon pathways and trophic attributes are conserved in carnivorous reef fishes across a major human disturbance gradient

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, Volume 95, Issue 1, Page 39-53, January 2026.
Our research leverages a natural, ecosystem‐scale experiment and cutting‐edge molecular isotope approaches to reveal that coral reef food web structure and energy flow can remain consistent across a gradient of human disturbance. Abstract Habitat degradation and overexploitation are key drivers of biodiversity loss globally.

New Host Record of Lutjanus gibbus for Parasitic Nerocila sp. (Crustacea, Isopo-da, Cymothoidae) from South Andaman, Andaman Islands, India

open access: yesJournal of Tropical Life Science, 2019
A new host of Cymothoid isopod, Nerocila sp. was identified from the dorsal surface of the body (caudal peduncle) of Lutjanidae fish Lutjanus gibbus (Forsskal, 1775) which is a new host record of isopod parasite Nerocila sp.

Fish stock assessment of the northern New Caledonian lagoons : 2-Stocks of lagoon bottom and reef-associated fishes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Les stocks de poissons des fonds de lagon et vivant à proximité des récifs se caractérisent par une forte diversité et un habitat hétérogène, ce qui rend les estimations de stocks difficiles.

Period of the day drives distinctions in the taxonomic and functional structures of reef fish assemblages

open access: yesJournal of Fish Biology, Volume 108, Issue 1, Page 103-117, January 2026.
Abstract Circadian processes are key drivers of animal behaviour, influencing patterns of activity, resource partitioning and competition avoidance. Studies evaluating circadian changes on the structure of marine assemblages are lacking, especially for reef fish.

Maturity and Fecundity in the Rockfishes, Sebastes spp., a Review [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
Literature was reviewed for data describing fecundity, maturity, and growth in the ovoviviparous genus Sebastes (rockfishes). Assembled data were examined for patterns associated with geographic location and fish length. Rockfishes display great range in
