Comprehensive Assessment of Rapeseed Meal as a Fish Meal Substitute in Hybrid Sturgeon (Acipenser schrenckii ♀ × Acipenser baerii ♂) Diets: Impacts on Growth Performance, Body Composition, Immunological Responses, Intestinal Histology, and Inflammatory Response

open access: yesAquaculture Nutrition, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
This study aimed to assess the impact of incorporating rapeseed meal (RM) as a partial substitute for fish meal (FM) in the diet of cultured hybrid sturgeon (Acipenser schrenckii ♀ × Acipenser baerii ♂). A total of 450 juvenile hybrid sturgeon with similar weights were randomly assigned to five dietary groups, each with triplicates of 30 fish per tank.

[Feeding habits of the fishes Lutjanus peru and Lutjanus guttatus (Pisces: Lutjanidae) of Guerrero, México].

open access: yesRevista de biologia tropical, 2004
Diet composition of the Pacific snapper (Lutjanus peru) 130-684 mm fork length (FL) and the spotted snapper (Lutjanus guttatus) 120-550 mm FL, was analyzed. Monthly samples were obtained from commercial landings in three regions off the coast of Guerrero, Mexico.

Effect of Tuna Dark Muscle Protein Hydrolysates on Productive Performance and Antioxidant Enzyme Response Following Acute Heat Stress in Whiteleg Shrimp (Penaeus vannamei)

open access: yesAquaculture Research, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
High temperatures (>34°C) of water in aquaculture production systems potentially generate oxidative stress in white shrimp (Penaeus vannamei), which could result in high mortality rates and/or poor production performance of organisms. Protein hydrolysates elaborated with fishery byproducts have shown high nutritional and antioxidant potential, which ...

Zooplankton in Aquaculture: A Perspective on Nutrition and Cost‐Effectiveness

open access: yesAquaculture Research, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Successful aquaculture relies on effective feeding strategies for target species, from the larval stage through to sexually mature adults, in both marine and freshwater environments. Aquatic organisms, particularly larvae, instinctively prefer live feeds like algae and zooplankton; larvae are entirely dependent on live feeds due to their undeveloped ...

Partial Replacement of Fish Meal With Shrimp Waste Meal: Effects on Growth, Digestibility, and Immunity in Juvenile Beluga Sturgeon (Huso huso)

open access: yesAquaculture Research, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
This study aimed to investigate the effects of replacing different levels of dietary shrimp waste meal (SWM) with fish meal (FM) on growth performance (GP), carcass composition (CC), apparent digestibility (AD), and innate immunity of juvenile beluga sturgeon (Huso huso).

Assessing Growth, Survival, and Physiological Responses of Gangetic Mystus (Mystus cavasius) to Incremental Salinity Levels: Implications for Aquaculture Management in a Changing Climate

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ichthyology, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Climate change is causing saline intrusion, negatively affecting aquaculture productivity on a global scale. It is necessary to explore suitable species for coastal aquaculture in water with low to moderate salinity. Thus, the objective of the present study was to assess the impact of salinity on the growth performance, muscle composition, and blood ...
