Comparison of fatty acids profile of the gonads and eggs of Lutjanus guttatus (Perciformes: Lutjanidae) obtained from wild and captive broodstock

open access: yesUniciencia, 2020
The proportions of fatty acids present in eggs and gonads of wild and captive Lutjanus guttatus (Steindachner, 1869) were evaluated to assist in obtaining nutritional information necessary to improve the diets provided in aquaculture production centers ...

Hyperostosis in Fishes: An Update With New Species Records

open access: yesJournal of Morphology, Volume 285, Issue 11, November 2024.
Hyperostosis is an enigmatic dimension of diversity in the anatomy of fishes. This excessive overgrowth of bone is natural in origin, occurs almost exclusively in marine fishes, is generally species‐specific, and becomes fully developed only in large individuals. We document hyperostosis in 35 families, 89 genera, and 153 species.

The pantothenic acid requirement in juvenile spotted rose snapper Lutjanus guttatus (Steindachner, 1869)

open access: yesLatin American Journal of Aquatic Research, 2018
An 18-week feeding trial was conducted to estimate the optimum dietary pantothenic acid (PA) requirement for juvenile of Lutjanus guttatus . Seven isoproteic and isocaloric practical diets were formulated containing graded levels of pantothenic acid (PA) 2.57, 31.97, 47.91, 63.79, 76.83, 103.15 and 121.91 mg kg -1 . Triplicate groups of 15 fish, with

Estimating growout production costs of commercial‐scale marine finfish production in southern tier US states

open access: yesJournal of the World Aquaculture Society, Volume 55, Issue 4, August 2024.
Abstract Increased interest in marine fish farming in the United States has led to a need for fundamental economic information on production of candidate species for commercialization in various production systems. Funding for the project targeted those species with potential for production in southern tier states in the United States.

[Coexistence of Lutjanus peru and Lutjanus guttatus (Pisces: Lutjanidae) in the coast of Guerrero, México: association with the temporal variation of recruitment].

open access: yesRevista de biologia tropical, 2007
Monthly volumes of capture of Lutjanus peru and Lutjanus guttatus from the coast of Guerrero, Mexico, were analyzed considering eight annual cycles. Time-series, auto correlation, and cross-correlation analysis showed that monthly abundance of populations display unsystematic variations. The FiSAT software was used to obtain the recruitment patterns of
