This paper proposes a novel control framework to ensure safety of a robotic swarm. A feedback optimization controller is capable of driving the swarm toward a target density while keeping risk‐zone exposure below a safety threshold. Theory and experiments show how safety is more effectively achieved for sparsely connected swarms.

Achieving Synchronization in Arrays of Coupled Differential Systems with Time-Varying Couplings
We study complete synchronization of the complex dynamical networks described by linearly coupled ordinary differential equation systems (LCODEs). Here, the coupling is timevarying in both network structure and reaction dynamics. Inspired by our previous

Exploiting Ferroelectric and Spintronic Dynamics for Neural Network Computation
Ferroelectric and spintronic devices, relying on the control of polarization and magnetization, offer intrinsically fast, durable, energy‐efficient, and low‐latency building blocks for analog in‐memory computing. The hysteretic dynamics of an order parameter are leveraged to provide nonvolatile, multistate memory and nonlinear switching. Brain‐inspired

Risk‐aware safe reinforcement learning for control of stochastic linear systems
Abstract This paper presents a risk‐aware safe reinforcement learning (RL) control design for stochastic discrete‐time linear systems. Rather than using a safety certifier to myopically intervene with the RL controller, a risk‐informed safe controller is also learned besides the RL controller, and the RL and safe controllers are combined together ...

The control of drilling vibrations: A coupled PDE-ODE modeling approach
The main purpose of this contribution is the control of both torsional and axial vibrations occurring along a rotary oilwell drilling system. The model considered consists of a wave equation coupled to an ordinary differential equation (ODE) through a ...

The Ψ−asymptotic equivalence of the Lyapunov matrix differential equations with modified argument
Using the notion of strict h−contraction, existence results for Ψ−asymptotic equivalence of two pairs of (Lyapunov) matrix differential equations with modified argument are given.

Modeling and parameter estimation for fractional large‐scale interconnected Hammerstein systems
Abstract This paper addresses the challenge of modeling and identifying large‐scale interconnected systems exhibiting memory effects, hereditary properties, and non‐local interactions. We propose a fractional‐order extension of the Hammerstein architecture that incorporates Grünwald–Letnikov operators to capture complex dynamics through multiple ...
