Antimicrobial activities of silver nanoparticles synthesized from Lycopersicon esculentum extract

open access: yesJournal of Analytical Science and Technology, 2014
BackgroundIt has been known for quite some time now that silver nanoparticles (AgNP) can inhibit microbial growth and even kill microbes. Our investigation reports the antimicrobial activity of AgNP against a model bacterium, Escherichia coli.MethodsThe ...

Two highly divergent alcohol dehydrogenases of melon exhibit fruit ripening-specific expression and distinct biochemical characteristics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Alcohol dehydrogenases (ADH) participate in the biosynthetic pathway of aroma volatiles in fruit by interconverting aldehydes to alcohols and providing substrates for the formation of esters.

Distribution of xylem hydraulic resistance in fruiting truss of tomato influenced by water stress [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
In this study xylem hydraulic resistances of peduncles (truss stalk), pedicels (fruit stalk) and the future abscission zone (AZ) halfway along the pedicel of tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum L.) plants were directly measured at different stages of fruit ...

BioCNTs Mediated Delivery of Systemically Mobile Small RNAs via Leaf Spray to Control Both Tomato DNA and RNA Viruses

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A carbon nanotube‐based biopesticide system (BioCNTs) enables efficient delivery and systemic movement of RNAi molecules to control major tomato viruses. By integrating shRNA and tRNA‐like structures (TLS) with BioCNTs, this green and scalable approach achieves long‐term silencing and high antiviral efficacy through simple foliar spraying.

Relação entre zingibereno, tricomas foliares e repelência de tomateiros a Tetranychus evansi Relationship between zingiberene, foliar trichomes and repellence of tomato plant to Tetranychus evansi

Precision Editing of NLRS Improves Effector Recognition for Enhanced Disease Resistance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Precision engineering of plant NLR immune receptors enables rational design of enhanced pathogen resistance through mismatched pairing, domain swapping, and targeted mutagenesis. These approaches achieve multi‐fold expansion in recognition breadth while minimizing autoimmunity risks and fitness penalties.
