Origins and Evolution of WUSCHEL‐Related Homeobox Protein Family in Plant Kingdom
WUSCHEL‐related homeobox (WOX) is a large group of transcription factors specifically found in plants. WOX members contain the conserved homeodomain essential for plant development by regulating cell division and differentiation. However, the evolutionary relationship of WOX members in plant kingdom remains to be elucidated.

Conservation and Variability of Synaptonemal Complex Proteins in Phylogenesis of Eukaryotes
The problems of the origin and evolution of meiosis include the enigmatic variability of the synaptonemal complexes (SCs) which, being morphology similar, consist of different proteins in different eukaryotic phyla. Using bioinformatics methods, we monitored all available eukaryotic proteomes to find proteins similar to known SC proteins of model ...

Plant MicroRNA Prediction by Supervised Machine Learning Using C5.0 Decision Trees
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are nonprotein coding RNAs between 20 and 22 nucleotides long that attenuate protein production. Different types of sequence data are being investigated for novel miRNAs, including genomic and transcriptomic sequences. A variety of machine learning methods have successfully predicted miRNA precursors, mature miRNAs, and other ...

A Whole Chloroplast Genome Phylogeny of Diploid Species of Isoëtes (Isoëtaceae, Lycopodiophyta) in the Southeastern United States [PDF]
ABSTRACT The phylogeny of closely related species of Isoetes has been difficult to infer using morphological or molecular data. The southeastern United States exhibits among the highest diversity of Isoetes species, which likely are the result of a relatively recent radiation.
