The spores of Lycopodium (L) clavatum were used as a component of a dusting powder in many hospitals during the 1920's and 1930's. When L spores enter surgical wounds a lesion clinically resembling tuberculosis or neoplasia may develop months or even years later.

Alcaloides de Lycopodium Gnidioides et de Lycopodium Verticillatum
Bulletin des Sociétés Chimiques Belges, 1976AbstractBesides the already known alkaloids lucidioline (I), anhydrolycodoline (II), lycoclavine (III) and selagine (IV), two new compounds have been isolated from Lycopodium gnidioides L.f.: gnidioidine (V) and lycognidine (VI). From L. verticillatum L. anhydroaposerratinine (VII) and lycoverticine (VIII) were obtained. The structures of the compounds

Casuarines A and B, Lycopodium alkaloids from Lycopodium casuarinoides
Tetrahedron Letters, 2013A phytochemical study on Lycopodium casuarinoides has led to the isolation of two new C16N2-type Lycopodium alkaloids, casuarine A (1), a cage-like structure featured with a fused 6/6/6/6/6 pentacyclic ring system, and casuarine B (2). Their structures were elucidated based on the spectroscopic data and further confirmed by X-ray analysis.
