Metastatic lymph nodes in the neck of patients with T1 and T2 squamous cell carcinoma of the lower lip detected with lymphoscintigraphy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Aims and backgroundThe aim of our research was to use lymphoscintigraphy as a main method to confirm and detect lymph nodes in the neck, in patients with squamos cell carcinoma of lower lip which were clinically T1, T2 and N0, and to justify the use of ...

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Risk factors of central compartment lymph node metastasis posterior to the right recurrent laryngeal nerve in differentiated thyroid carcinoma: A single-center prospective study in Vietnam

open access: yesEndocrine and Metabolic Science
The study aims to examine the incidence of central compartment lymph node metastasis on the right side posterior to the recurrent laryngeal nerve in cases of papillary thyroid cancer, as well as the risk factors that may increase this incidence.

The Role of Lymph Node Fine-Needle Aspiration in Penile Cancer in the Sentinel Node Era [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Penile squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is an uncommon condition in Western countries. Inguinal lymph nodes dissection can be curative in 20%–60% of node positive patients.

Checkpoint blockade and the stem‐like T cell trade‐off

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Stem‐like T cells are key to the success of programmed cell death protein 1 (PD1) blockade, as they sustain long‐term anti‐tumor response by continuously generating effector CD8+ T cells. However, how these cells are maintained in cancer is not fully understood. Hor et al.

Preoperative ultrasound-guided injection of nanocarbon for central lymph node dissection in patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma

open access: yesScientific Reports
To explore better methods for tracing central lymph nodes in patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma by comparing the differences in the numbers and staining rates of central lymph nodes as well as the degree of nanocarbon extravasation between the ...
