Cystic lymphangioma of the pancreas

We recently saw a case in pathology consultation involving a 46-year-old woman who presented with left-sided abdominal pain, bloating and firmness.

SUMMARY A 6-month-old Morgan colt was examined because of preputial edema and multiple nodular masses in the left inguinal region. A tentative diagnosis of lymphatic hamartoma was made on the basis of initial biopsy findings. The prognosis for surgical excision was poor due to the progressive expansile growth of the tumor.

Mesenteric Cystic Lymphangioma

The mass had been present for 4 weeks, markedly enlarging during that period. The past medical history was otherwise unremarkable. Physical exam revealed a moderately distressed patient.

A young girl had a large isolated and localized multicystic lesion of the right humerus, which was revealed by a pathological fracture. MRI and bone biopsy showed liquid-filled bone cysts. The final diagnosis was localized cystic lymphangiomatosis.
