Evolution of the Color-Magnitude Relation in Galaxy Clusters at z ~1 from the ACS Intermediate Redshift Cluster Survey [PDF]
We apply detailed observations of the Color-Magnitude Relation (CMR) with the ACS/HST to study galaxy evolution in eight clusters at z~1. The early-type red sequence is well defined and elliptical and lenticular galaxies lie on similar CMRs.

Patterns of variation in reproductive parameters in Eurasian lynx (Lynx lynx) [PDF]
Detailed knowledge of the variation in demographic rates is central for our ability to understand the evolution of life history strategies and population dynamics, and to plan for the conservation of endangered species. We studied variation in reproductive output of 61 radio-collared Eurasian lynx females in four Scandinavian study sites spanning a ...

Abstract Conservation performance payments are becoming an increasingly popular instrument to tackle human–wildlife conflicts. In Sweden, Sámi communities practicing reindeer husbandry receive performance payments as compensation for reindeer losses caused by lynxes and wolverines.

Chronic Vitamin D Intoxication in Captive Iberian Lynx (Lynx pardinus). [PDF]
To document the biochemical and pathologic features of vitamin D intoxication in lynx and to characterize mineral metabolism in healthy lynx, blood samples were obtained from 40 captive lynx that had been receiving excessive (approximately 30 times the ...

SMBH Seeds: Model Discrimination with High Energy Emission Based on Scaling Relation Evolution
We explore the expected X-ray (0.5-2keV) signatures from super massive black holes (SMBHs) at high redshifts ($z\sim5-12$) assuming various models for their seeding mechanism and evolution.

Abstract Human‐wildlife conflicts (HWCs) are one of the most critical conservation challenges worldwide. Large carnivores are frequently at the centre of these conflicts because of the perceived and real threats they pose to livestock and human safety.

Can restoring wolves aid in lynx recovery?
Herein, we examine the hypothesis that relatively low densities of snowshoe hares (Lepus americanus) and the imperiled status of lynx (Lynx canadensis) may be partially due to an ecological cascade caused by the extirpation of gray wolves (Canis lupus ...

Abstract Wildlife damage to livestock and crops is the primary cause of conflict and a major barrier to human–wildlife coexistence across Europe and beyond. Data on such damages play a key role in understanding and shaping these conflicts. Policy responses have emphasised prevention and compensation to support extensive husbandry practices; however ...

Stakeholder perspectives on the prospect of lynx Lynx lynx reintroduction in Scotland
Conservation translocations are complex and challenging, but are frequently employed to tackle biodiversity decline. Large predator translocations can be particularly emotive and contentious, in part because they present actual or perceived risks to the ...
