Incorporating natural and human factors in habitat modelling and spatial prioritisation for the Lynx lynx martinoi [PDF]

open access: yesWeb Ecology, 2016
Countries in south-eastern Europe are cooperating to conserve a sub-endemic lynx species, Lynx lynx martinoi. Yet, the planning of species conservation should go hand-in-hand with the planning and management of (new) protected areas.

Niche partitioning of bobcat and Canada lynx near their distribution contact zone

open access: yesFACETS
Canada lynx (Lynx canadensis) are keystone predators. However, contact with congenerics, like the bobcat (Lynx rufus), could alter lynx trophic ecology and destabilize boreal food webs.

Microsporidia as a Potential Threat to the Iberian Lynx (Lynx pardinus)

open access: yesAnimals, 2022
Lynx pardinus is one of the world’s most endangered felines inhabiting the Iberian Peninsula. The present study was performed to identify the presence of microsporidia due to the mortality increase in lynxes.

Directed Functionalization of Recombinant Spider Silk Nonwoven Membranes with Antibodies Using Non‐Canonical Amino Acids

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A recombinant spider silk protein was functionalized by incorporating genetically encoded bio‐orthogonal reactive azido‐groups. The azido‐functionalized proteins were produced in a scalable biotechnological process, and particles, films, as well as nanofibers were established as anchorage for fully functional antibodies via site‐specific bio‐orthogonal

Early-type Galaxies at z ~ 1.3. II. Masses and Ages of Early-type Galaxies in Different Environments and Their Dependence on Stellar Population Model Assumptions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We have derived masses and ages for 79 early-type galaxies (ETGs) in different environments at z ~ 1.3 in the Lynx supercluster and in the GOODS/CDF-S field using multi-wavelength (0.6-4.5 μm; KPNO, Palomar, Keck, Hubble Space Telescope, Spitzer) data ...

The Vegan Villain Sets Out to The End of Summer: Functionalized Coatings as Biohybrid UV‐Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study introduces biohybrid coatings incorporating E. coli biomass expressing photoconvertible fluorescent proteins as UV‐A responsive elements. Upon irradiation at 400 nm, the coatings exhibit an irreversible fluorescence shift from green to red within 15 min. Notably, the photoconversion capability is retained after >1 year of storage.

Multiplexed Luminal Tissue Constructs with Reconfigurable Barriers for Dynamic Modeling of Multi‐Tissue Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This study describes the fabrication of arrays of luminal tissue constructs for 3D luminal tissue modeling. An oil or media‐filled reservoir between constructs serves as a liquid barrier or bridge to regulate communication between lumens within the array for modeling multi‐tissue interactions in vitro. Abstract Cell‐lined luminal structures are crucial

A Dilated Pore of Winer in a Young Iberian Lynx (Lynx pardinus)

open access: yesActa Veterinaria, 2023
A 1.5-year-old male Iberian lynx born in captivity presented with a 2.2 cm exophytic nodular alopecic mass at the left tarsus medial aspect, before being released into the wild.

Life and death in wolverines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Developing trustworthy conservation planning for endangered species requires a deep understanding of the variations of their populations in both space and time.
