Thermal behaviour of lyocell fibres
Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy has been applied in combination with wide-angle X-ray diffraction and measurements of strength, fluidity, yellowness, birefringence, and moisture regain to detect microstructural changes in lyocell fibres, a regenerated cellulose fibre, subjected to direct heat and annealing treatments.

Effect of Fibre Type on Mechanical Properties of Nonwoven Reinforced TPU Composites [PDF]
Nonwoven-reinforced composites were produced using both low modulus fibres (lyocell, polyethylene terephthalate, and polyamide) and high modulus aramid fibres (polyphenylene terephthalamide) in thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) matrix.

Abstract Textile production is an important industrial sector but also one of the most polluting industries and highly dependent on fossil resources and cotton for the production of fibers. The use of cellulosic fibers from local agricultural residues can offer a sustainable alternative for the current textile industry. In this work, an environmentally

Suitability of lyocell fiber for pillow fillings [PDF]
The choice of a comfortable pillow is essential for good sleep. The filling material for pillows should be bulky, resilient and comfortable. For reasons of price, availability and resilience, polyester is the most commonly used filling material. Its drawbacks, however, lie in poor moisture management and a lack of biodegradability.

Factors affecting Removal of Bacterial Pathogens from Healthcare Surfaces during Dynamic Wiping [PDF]
Wiping of surfaces contaminated with pathogenic bacteria is a key strategy for combatting transmission of healthcare associated infections. It is essential to understand the extent to which removal of bacteria is modulated by fibre properties, biocidal ...

The impact of nanotechnology on textile coloration—A mini‐review
Abstract Coloration is a key feature in the textile industry that adds value to the final apparels. This coloration of textile products is done by conventional methods which involve huge amounts of water pollution and wastages of textile colourants. Several approaches have been taken to eliminate these issues by advanced dyeing methods, however, due to
