ANTIBACTERIAL ACTIVITY OF SELECTIVELY OXIDIZED LYOCELL FIBERS

open access: yesContemporary Materials, 2013
The purpose of this research was to study antibacterial activity of selectively oxidized lyocell fibers with incorporated silver particles against gram (+) and gram (-) pathogens. Antibacterial properties were accomplished by incorporation of silver ions into modified lyocell fibers by chemisorption from aqueous silver nitrate solution.

Cellulose Fiber-Reinforced PLA versus PP

open access: yesInternational Journal of Polymer Science, 2017
The present study focuses on a comparison between different cellulose fiber-reinforced thermoplastics. Composites were produced with 30 mass-% lyocell fibers and a PLA or PP matrix with either an injection (IM) or compression molding (CM) process ...

Graphitized Carbon Fibers Based on Lyocell Precursors

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science, 2019
Abstract For the first time, graphitized fibers from Lyocell cellulose precursors spun from solutions prepared via the solid-phase dissolution method in N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide were obtained. Carbonization was performed up to processing temperature of 2400 °C.

Swelling Behaviors and Crimping of Lyocell Fibers

open access: yesSen'i Gakkaishi, 2010
Swollen behaviors of Lyocell fibers in aqueous ferric sodium tartrate complex (FeTNa) solution and aqueous sodium hydroxide solution were investigated. The diameters of the fibers were about 4 times greater than those of the original fibers and the length shrinkages were 25% in the FeTNa solution. The observations of the swollen fibers in each solution

From Hemp Bast to Lyocell Fiber: Sustainable Process Optimization for Lyocell‐Grade Dissolving Pulp

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
This study presents a sustainable method to produce lyocell‐grade dissolving pulp from Canadian hemp bast fibers. A simplified alkali‐chelation‐bleaching process, free from sulfur and chlorine, yielded high α‐cellulose pulp with low lignin and hemicellulose content. The pulp was successfully spun into continuous hemp‐based lyocell fibers, demonstrating
