BODIPY‐based J‐aggregates: From supramolecular chemistry to NIR bioimaging and phototherapies

open access: yesBulletin of the Korean Chemical Society, EarlyView.
BODIPY dyes form ordered J‐aggregates through controlled supramolecular self‐assembly, producing narrow, red‐shifted absorption bands with small Stokes shifts. This review highlights design strategies governing J‐aggregation, structure–property relationships, and applications in sensing, bioimaging, and phototherapy, guiding functional BODIPY‐based ...

MAN2B1 in immune system-related diseases, neurodegenerative disorders and cancers: functions beyond α-mannosidosis

open access: yesExpert Reviews in Molecular Medicine
Glycosylation modifications of proteins and glycan hydrolysis are critical for protein function in biological processes. Aberrations in glycosylation enzymes are linked to lysosomal storage disorders (LSDs), immune interactions, congenital disorders and ...

Overcoming intranasal delivery barriers with ultrastable polyzwitterionic siRNA nanocages for enhanced glioblastoma therapy

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
A ROS‐responsive, zwitterionic nanocage enables stable, intranasal siRNA delivery to glioblastoma, promoting deep tumor penetration via non‐degradative pathways and trigeminal nerve transport. This platform achieves durable gene silencing and tumor suppression, offering a non‐invasive, storage‐stable strategy for treating glioma and other neurological ...

Reactivation of mTOR signaling slows neurodegeneration in a lysosomal sphingolipid storage disease

open access: yesNeurobiology of Disease
Sandhoff disease, a lysosomal storage disorder, is caused by pathogenic variants in the HEXB gene, resulting in the loss of β-hexosaminidase activity and accumulation of sphingolipids including GM2 ganglioside.

Harnessing ferroptosis from multilayer defense networks to nanoplatforms for specific cancer therapy

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
Nanomaterials target metabolically‐regulated ferroptosis for cancer therapy. Iron‐based or alternative nanoplatforms integrate ferroptosis with chemotherapy, immunotherapy, or radiotherapy. They enable stimulus‐responsive therapies (photothermal, photodynamic, sonodynamic) activated by near‐infrared, light, or ultrasound, achieving potent synergistic ...

Changes in glycosphingolipid levels in plasma and cerebrospinal fluid of individuals with Lysosomal Free Sialic Acid Storage Disorder

open access: yesRare
Lysosomal free sialic acid storage disorder (FSASD) is a rare, multisystem disease caused by biallelic pathogenic variants in SLC17A5, encoding the lysosomal transmembrane sialic acid exporter, sialin.

Transfersomes with core and surface‐loaded NF‐κB p65 siRNA for enhanced transdermal transfection and effective treatment of psoriasis

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
TCPL, a transfersome with Tween 80 and PEI, enables efficient transdermal siNF‐κB delivery, resolving PEI's toxicity issue. It promotes lysosomal escape and effective transfection, silences NF‐κB, modulates immunity, and inhibits angiogenesis, alleviating psoriasis. With good biocompatibility, TCPL holds strong clinical translation potential. Schematic
