Biomaterial Strategies for Targeted Intracellular Delivery to Phagocytes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Phagocytes are essential to a functional immune system, and their behavior defines disease outcomes. Engineered particles offer a strategic opportunity to target phagocytes, harnessing inflammatory modulation in disease. By tuning features like size, shape, and surface, these systems can modulate immune responses and improve targeted treatment for a ...

Smart Nanogels as Enzyme‐Driven Nanomotors for Navigating Viscous Physiological Barriers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Two families of urease‐powered nanomotors (NMs), with and without a p‐(2‐hydroxyethyl methacrylate) (p‐HEMA) shell, have been successfully prepared. Both types exhibit effective motion in highly viscous synovial fluid media at low urea concentrations (25 mM).

Neuronal lysosomes [PDF]

open access: yesNeuroscience Letters, 2019
Lysosomes support diverse cellular functions by acting as sites of macromolecule degradation and nutrient recycling. The degradative abilities of lysosomes are conferred by a lumen that is characterized by an acidic pH and which contains numerous hydrolases that support the breakdown of major cellular macromolecules to yield cellular building blocks ...

Lysosome targeted therapies in hematological malignancies

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology
Lysosomes are dynamic organelles integral to cellular homeostasis, secretory pathways, immune responses, and cell death regulation. In cancers, lysosomes become dysregulated to sustain proliferative signaling, metabolism, and invasion.

Precision Photothermal Therapy at Mild Temperature: NIR‐II Imaging‐Guided, H2O2‐Responsive Stealth Nanobomb

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The new generation nanobomb, termed the stealth nanobomb, is fabricated through self‐assembly using a polymeric carbon monoxide carrier (PLGA(CO)), small molecule near‐infrared‐active agents (2TT‐OC46B), and phospholipid polyethylene glycol (DSPE‐mPEG2000). The stealth nanobomb can circulate in the bloodstream and specifically target pancreatic cancer,
