Synthesis of Ethyl Methyl Carbonate: Past, Present, and Future

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, Volume 368, Issue 15, 1 August 2026.
Ethyl methyl carbonate (EMC) is the simplest asymmetric organic carbonate, with properties between dimethyl (DMC) and diethyl (DEC) carbonate, considered a unique green liquid organic compound for lithium batteries (electrolyte) and gasoline blending (octane enhancer additive), among other uses. In accordance, the chemical production of EMC is expected

Multi-Method analysis including 57Fe Mössbauer Spectroscopy to quantify vivianite for phosphorus recovery in real wastewater environments

open access: yesCleaner Engineering and Technology
Phosphorus recovery from wastewater is increasingly vital due to its limited availability and essential role in food production. This study investigates the formation and quantification of vivianite, a promising pathway for phosphorus recovery, in ...

Coupled Operando Mössbauer‐Raman Spectroscopic Analysis of Iron Molybdate Catalysts During Oxidative Dehydrogenation

open access: yesChemCatChem, Volume 18, Issue 15, 14 August 2026.
We demonstrate the potential of a coupled SMS‐Raman setup for the ODH of EtOH over a Fe2(MoO4)3 + MoO3 catalyst during reductive conditions. Coupling both methods allows to distinguish (sub)surface and bulk properties of the material during catalysis, that can be correlated with activity and selectivity data from mass spectrometry.

Iron‐Substituted Zn‐Al LDH‐Derived Mixed Oxides: Tailoring Structure, Composition and Redox Properties for Efficient CO2‐to‐Olefins Conversion

open access: yesChemCatChem, Volume 18, Issue 15, 14 August 2026.
LDH‐derived Zn‐Fe‐Al mixed oxides exhibited 40% CO2 conversion and 10.6% yield of light olefins. The composition and the properties of the mixed oxides strongly influenced the selectivity of products, while ZnFe2O4 and iron carbide structure promoted the conversion and the selectivity of light olefins.

Competing Pathways in Heme Catalyzed Oxidations With Porphyrin‐Centered Reactivity

open access: yesChemistryEurope, Volume 4, Issue 8, August 2026.
Heme‐catalyzed oxidations proceeding through porphyrin‐centered reactivity are quite rare. In attempts to optimize the catalytic umpolung of chloride proceeding via an isoporphyrin, we found a competing pathway. The iron(III) π‐dication readily performs alternative reactivity, leading to a bifurcation in reaction mechanisms at this point.

Mössbauer Study of Weathered H-meteorite from the Desert of Oman

open access: yesSultan Qaboos University Journal for Science
A number of meteorites from the desert of Oman, classified as H-chondrites, with known and unknown ages, were studied by using 57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy to determine their Fe3+-bearing compositions.

Synthesis and characterization of iron oxide magnetic nanoparticles

open access: yesNukleonika, 2017
Small particles of magnetite, i.e. 7.5, 13.4 and 14.1 nm in diameter, were obtained by the method of co-precipitation. The crystal structure and size distributions were determined by means of transmission electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction.

Spin Transition of Ferric Iron in Silicate Glasses Inferred by High‐Pressure Electrical Conductivity Measurements

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 131, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract Silicate melt has been proposed to exist near the base of the mantle and has been invoked to explain seismic and electrical conductivity anomalies observed near the core‐mantle boundary; however, its presence and stability under lowermost‐mantle conditions remain uncertain.
